Room & Board
A position with our company is not dependent upon living in company housing, so team members are welcome to live in non-company housing if they wish. It is best to start looking for housing at your earliest opportunity, because seasonal housing is in high-demand. Alaska Travel Adventures recognizes that housing in Alaska can be costly and difficult to obtain, so we do offer assistance locating housing for all employees. There is a flat daily rate deducted from each bi-weekly paycheck, with a refundable security deposit if you choose to stay in ATA subsidized housing. This rate covers the monthly rent, electric, trash and water/sewer charges. If interested in this service, please indicate this in your application and it will be covered in the interview process.
Please note there are multiple individuals in each residence and plan on sharing a room with at least one other person.
What is NOT covered in the charge for employee housing is cable/internet service and anything you would normally purchase for your own home. Living in company housing is a privilege, not a right. It is important for everyone to be respectful of others living in housing. For this reason, guidelines are in place to help ensure our company housing can be enjoyed by all. Residents will be required to sign a housing agreement prior to living in company housing.

Getting Here and Getting Around
ATA hopes that all of our team members have an incredible summer working with us, but they need to get here first. It is your responsibility to make their own travel arrangements to and from Alaska and to get to and from work. Although we are unable to offer travel reimbursement, we are happy to assist employees in finding the most competitive airfare prices to Alaska. You can call our reservation and ticketing office in Seattle at 1-800-323-5757. For ferry reservations, call the Alaska Marine Highway System, 1-800-642-0066.
Although we do everything in our power to secure housing close to each operation, it is not always possible. Therefore it is highly recommended that consideration be given to bringing a bike or driving a car up to Alaska. Used cars and bikes are often available in many locations. Facebook has proven very helpful to employees in locating these deals in the past. Some employees have pooled their money to purchase a used car for the summer season to assist with their transportation needs. The road to Alaska is 2,400 miles of the most amazing Canadian and Alaskan wilderness. Many employees see a road trip as part of their Alaskan adventure. Or take advantage of the Alaskan Marine Highway and jump on the ferry in Bellingham, Washington. You can even put your vehicle on a barge in Seattle and fly to your new home away from home. Ketchikan has a limited public bus system that connects the main commerce centers. We have a bi-weekly pay period, so we suggest you have sufficient funds for food, etc. for at least the first three weeks of employment.
Summer in Alaska means working and playing hard. With almost endless hours of daylight, even after a full day of work there is always time for play. In all of our locations, our employees are surrounded by breathtaking mountains, glaciers, deep fjords and flowing rivers. So, whether you are looking to hike gorgeous trails through the Tongass National Forest, fish in the pristine waters, or just get out and enjoy your local community; adventure, new friends and fond memories await.
We encourage our guides to experience all of the tours we have to offer, as well as, enjoy the benefits of being a part of Alaska's tourism industry. Many local operators provide industry rates or space available seating for our employees. We would love to connect you with these opportunities.
