Alaska Travel Adventures is now hiring Adventure Tour Guides for the 2025 summer season. We offer a wide range of guiding opportunities in multiple southeast Alaska locations including Juneau, Ketchikan, and Sitka.

River: As a river guide you will lead raft trips down approximately 5 miles of the Mendenhall River including a one-mile section of class II-III whitewater depending on water levels. You should be in good physical condition and prepared to work in inclement weather.  You may also assist as a shuttle driver.  Current CPR/First Aid certification required. 

Kayak: As a kayak Guide, you will lead clients on a kayak tour on the Pacific Ocean.  You should be in good physical condition and prepared to work in inclement weather.  Current CPR/First Aid certification required. 

Hiking: As a Hiking Guide you will lead clients on a nature hike in the Tongass National Forest.  You may also serve as a deckhand on the vessel that transports clients to and from the hiking site.  You should be in good physical condition and prepared to work in inclement weather.  Current CPR/First Aid certification required.  If also working as a deckhand, pre-employment drug testing and enrollment in a random testing pool required. 

Jeep & Canoe: As a Jeep/Canoe guide you will lead clients on a backcountry Jeep tour on private logging roads and in 20 passenger canoes across Lake Harriet Hunt.  You may also assist as a shuttle driver.   You should be in good physical condition and prepared to work in inclement weather.  Current CPR/First Aid certification required.  You must be 21 years of age. 

Canoe: As a Canoe Guide you will lead guests on trips on Lake Harriet Hunt and in Totem Bight Historic State Park. You should be in good physical condition and prepared to work in inclement weather.  You may also assist as a shuttle driver.  Current CPR/First Aid certification required.   

Guides will be cross-trained in multiple disciplines and may be asked to lead trips in one or all roles.

  • Duties for all roles include but are not limited to:

  • Providing pre-trip safety and skills briefing for the guests & operation of a safe tour

  • Accurate completion of administrative paperwork

  • Daily cleaning and maintenance of all equipment and facilities

  • Sanitary food service during the snack portion of the tour

  • Deliver an entertaining and informed narrative on the natural history of the area

  • Creating a positive, professional culture and work environment

  • Understanding and compliance with company safety & operational policies
