JOB STATEMENT/PURPOSE:

Responsible for the implementation of capacity building activities focused on creating technical assistance supports for Cultural Tourism businesses and enhanced marketing to entice visitors to engage with the Cultural Tourism industry.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Responsible for execution of outreach campaigns to build relationships with existing and prospective Cultural Tourism businesses.
  2. Provide critical oversight and input into the development of marketing packages for Cultural Tourism, project execution and evaluation and grant reporting.  Create and maintain community partnerships and create organization program protocols.
  3. Coordinate and collaborate with partner agencies and stakeholders.
  4. Ensure responsible stewardship of funds according to the approved budget.
  5. Complete all necessary reporting requirements.
  6. Meet regularly with the external contractors and internal staff to discuss current participants and planned activities.
  7. Coordinate with community partners to collect data as necessary for reporting purposes.
  8. Complete and submit reports as required.
  9. Ensure appropriate confidentiality and security of all electronic and paper files by following strict security protocols and limiting access to project employees.

ESSENTIAL SKILLS:

  1. Master’s degree in business administration, Marketing/Communications, or related field preferred
  2. One to three years’ experience in the tourism industry at the managerial level.
  3. Or five to seven years of related experience.

Knowledge:

  1. Have knowledge of Alaska, Alaska’s history, and Alaska Native cultures. 
  2. Have understanding of ANHC’s mission, direction, and history or be willing to receive training.
  3. Have understanding about Alaska’s tourism industry, especially the offerings and operations of Cultural Tourism.

Skills:

  1. Have advanced writing and public speaking skills. 
  2. Have advanced computer skills, including all Microsoft Office Suite products. 
  3. Skill in the use of copier, fax, and other office equipment.
  4. Advanced skills with virtual products, such as Zoom, Microsoft Teams, etc.
  5. Advanced skills with coordinating travel and programmatic delivery.
  6. Willing to learn the operation of audio and visual equipment. 
  7. Have ability to create business plans, marketing products, and other tangible work product that contributes to capacity of businesses to engage with a market.

Abilities:

  1. Ability to assess levels of readiness for projects and initiatives.
  2. Ability to work with a diverse group of individuals with varying strengths and abilities.
  3. Be able to prepare reports in Word and Excel.
  4. Ability to multi-task and meet deadlines.

OTHER RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Additional duties as assigned based on needs of the business.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS/WORKING CONDITIONS:

Weather:

  1. Indoors: Primarily in an environmentally controlled office;
  2. Outdoors: Determined by Alaska’s weather, when visiting programs and partners, in accordance with Municipalities rules and regulations, and ANHC’s COVID 19 mandates.

Noise level:

  1. Quiet to moderate

Physical requirements:

  1. Employee is required to lift and/or move up to 25 lbs.
  2. Frequently required to sit, stand, walk, use hands/fingers to handle or feel, climb, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl, talk/hear, see, taste/smell, and carry weight/lift.
