Guest Services: Ranger/Shooting Range Instructor: Works as a member of the Office team, reports to Staffing Coordinator and Ranch Managers.

Key traits for success: responsibility/reliability, attention to detail, initiative, customer service, teamwork. Responsibilities include welcoming guests and helping them to their cabins on arrival day; functioning as concierges, answering questions and helping with special needs/requests; transportation; light maintenance; trash collection; and other duties. Rangers also oversee the shooting ranges (see below). Maintenance duties include cleaning and fueling vehicles that are used to transport guests, cleaning tennis courts, cleaning outdoor guest areas around the office, recycling and trash collection, and a wide variety of other light maintenance duties and tasks. Rangers also assist guests who want to float the river in inner tubes by keeping tubes inflated and driving guests to the put-in on the river, and are the primary staff responsible for driving guests to and from the airstrip, to and from town, picking up items in town, etc. During times when all rangers are not needed for regular ranger duties, they are expected to help in other departments, including maintenance/grounds, trail crew, etc.

Responsibilities as a shooting instructor include: providing a safe shooting experience for guests and staff, providing gun safety and shooting instruction, and cleaning and maintaining all guns and shooting ranges. The A Bar A offers skeet, trap, and five-stand ranges, as well as rifle and pistol ranges for guests who bring their own firearms. Shooting Range Instructors are responsible for reporting rounds shot to the office for guest accounts, and maintaining accurate inventory of shells and clay targets.

All Ranger staff work a 6-day work week with an average of 8 hours/day.
