Fly Fishing Guide (Full-Season only)

Fly Fishing Guide: Works as a member of the Fly Fishing Guide team, reports to Head Fly Fishing Guide.

Essential responsibilities include:

• Providing a safe and educational fly-fishing experience for adults and children including:
  • Casting lessons
  • Drift boat and raft guiding 
  • Stream and river guiding 
  • Knowledge of fly-tying, entomology, trout habitat, local ecology, and ranch history
• Providing group fishing instruction/guiding along with private lessons and guiding
  • Driving guests to fishing areas
  • Helping guests with gear and equipment
  • Serving meals (certain trips)
• Keeping all fishing vehicles, boats, and fishing supply areas clean, organized, and well-maintained
• Maintaining fishing equipment in top condition
• Supporting the fishing section in the ranch store, including set up and merchandising, sales, and ordering
• Supporting fishing trip sign-ups process with guests and office team
• Maintaining parking spots and access paths to fishing areas; and are responsible for weed and erosion control in these areas
• Making recommendations for trout habitat maintenance and improvement
• Tracking fly inventory and communicating with the office for billing

Key traits for success: proven fly fishing experience/skills, guiding and teaching ability, customer service, stamina/work ethic, teamwork.

At times when all guides are not busy guiding guests or completing other fishing-related tasks, fishing guides are expected to help in other departments on the ranch.

All fishing guides work a 6-day work-week with an average of 8 hours/day. They must be able to lift/carry at least 40 pounds.
