Expeditions Guide: Works as a member of the Expeditions Program team; reports to Expeditions Directors and Operations Manager. Key traits for success: independence, adaptability, customer service, teamwork, stamina/work ethic, guiding skills, local knowledge, attention to detail. Guides are responsible for teaching and guiding guests participating in A Bar A Ranch Expeditions. Guiding includes: fly fishing, riding, hiking and map orientation, clay shooting, and small caliber riflery. Most Expeditions include activities in Wilderness areas of National Forest and backcountry terrain. Expedition Guides must be comfortable navigating in remote landscapes on and off ranch property. Expedition Guides host guests at Expeditions lodging locations, including meal preparation; support trip logistics including packing, stocking, transportation, etc.; clean and maintain facilities and equipment; and care for horses used for Expeditions. Expeditions guides must submit a fly fishing video (see A Bar A website staff pages for instructions) and have previous horseback riding experience (riding video may be required).

Expeditions Program: The Expeditions program consists of Classic Expeditions and Self-Supported Expeditions. The Expeditions program hosts groups of 4–6 guests for 5–10-night customized trips based at Ranch locations beyond A Bar A headquarters. 

Expeditions Guides work a 6-day work week with an average of 11 hours/day. They must be able to lift/carry at least 40 pounds.
