The Assistant Head Housekeeper/Cabin Host is ideally a permanent seasonal position (seeking a candidate who can work for multiple years, generally May 1 through October 31).

This role can be filled by an employee living on-site in ranch housing or off-site in personal housing. During the regular summer season, a 6-day work week is expected (late May through late September); prior to opening and after closing, a 5-day work week is expected.

Reports to Head Housekeeper/Cabin Host. The ideal candidate is highly organized and efficient, with excellent interpersonal and communication skills. This is a high-energy job that requires stamina and enthusiasm. Management and team-building skills are important.

Responsible for supporting the Head Housekeeper/Cabin Host with every aspect of managing housekeeping at the A Bar A Ranch. This includes training, scheduling, overseeing, and supporting a team of 12 seasonal housekeeping staff members (typically college-aged). It also includes working closely with Ranch Managers and other leadership team members to ensure smooth and safe operations that meet A Bar A standards and mission.

The Housekeeping/Cabin Host team is responsible for cleaning and upkeep of all guest cabins and several guest common areas at the A Bar A (ranch capacity is typically 120 guests and 100 staff members during June through September). Daily cleaning, as well as weekly guest turn-over deep cleaning and seasonal deep cleaning, are included. Other responsibilities include:

  • Deep cleaning staff dorms in preparation for the summer season (staff are responsible for cleaning their own rooms during the summer season); inspections and accountability for staff members in dorm areas throughout summer season.
  • Laundry for all guest needs (e.g., kitchen, dining lodge, guest cabin towels and bedding).
  • Guest services support including serving meals at cookouts, serving/hosting in the bar (Round Room), on-call requests after hours.
  • Ordering supplies and equipment and maintaining inventories of supplies and equipment within the Housekeeping department.
  • Maintaining the "Palace" (Housekeeping hub) in a clean, organized, and highly functional state.
  • Maintaining Housekeeping vehicles in clean and functional state, including scheduling service/repairs as needed with the maintenance department.
  • Light maintenance in guest and staff facilities, including painting, staining, smoke alarms, minor carpentry, furniture repairs, etc. Reporting other maintenance needs to the maintenance department.
  • General support for other departments on the ranch as needed and as schedules permit.

Compensation includes ranch housing and meals (or stipend if off-site residence), monthly salary (DOE), optional 401k with a company match of up to 6%, annual end-of-season bonus, use of ranch facilities.

All Cabin Host staff work a 6/day work week with an average of 8hrs a day.
