Youth Program Assistant Director

Youth Program Assistant Director/Children’s Camp Counselor: Reports to Youth Program Director. This role supports the Youth Program Director in all aspects of the Kids' Program, as well as working as a Children's Camp Counselor when on shift (see job description). They oversee/lead the camp counselor team during daily operations, plan and implement age-appropriate activities that may vary from week to week according to the group, and take the lead on parent communications when the Youth Program Director is not present.They support the Director in maintaining accountability among the counselor team for job expectations and ranch policies.

Children’s Camp Counselor: Works with a team of camp counselors, reports to Youth Program Director. Key traits for success: high energy level, teamwork, creativity, responsibility, sense of fun. Responsible for presenting a fun, safe, and educational program for guest children aged 3-12, plus providing babysitting services to children younger than three. The Children/Youth/Teen Programs are designed as “adventure camps” and it is the responsibility of counselors to schedule and implement an active, outdoor-oriented program. Counselors responsibilities also include:

• Communicate with parents
• Babysit children under the age of three
• Serve as lifeguards for the swimming pool,
• Conduct routine pool cleaning and maintenance,
• Keep program vehicles and facilities clean and organized

Counselors are generally responsible for the care and supervision of children while they are participating in our Children/Youth Program and when counselors are babysitting. The Ranch provides lifeguard training and certification and pool maintenance training. The ratio of counselors to children varies. During times when numbers of children in the program are low and all counselors are not needed, they are expected to help in other departments, including housekeeping, maintenance, trail crew, landscaping, etc.

The Youth Program Assistant Director works a 6/day work week with an average of 8 hours/day. They must be able to lift/carry at least 40 pounds.
