Cook and play on the "River of No Return" in wild Idaho!

Our family-owned and operated business, The Village at North Fork, is located on the Salmon River (the "River of No Return") in North Fork, Idaho--the gateway to great rafting, kayaking, fishing, hunting, mountain biking and backcountry hiking in the Frank Church Wilderness Area. The cafe, known for its breakfasts, burgers, milkshakes, elite dinner and friendly service, needs a great breakfast cook and a great lunch/dinner cook . The position is seasonal--mid-may to mid-November. Shared employee housing or a full-hookup RV space is provided at no cost to the employee.

This is not a line cook position--it's much more interesting, demanding and fun. You share responsibility for all aspects of the meals being served--from preparing chicken fried steaks to pressing burgers, making soup to preparing firefighter meals.

The cook is responsible for quickly preparing meals to order that are consistently of excellent quality. At shift end, the cook performs prepping, cleaning and stocking tasks including changing out and cleaning food containers and cleaning kitchen surfaces and equipment. On occasion, the cook prepares food supplies for off-site customers and catered on-site events.

It is critical that the cook maintain sanitation requirements and utilize safe food handling practices. Obtaining and maintaining an Idaho Food Handlers certification is required (can easily be done online before or after hire).

The successful candidate has significant short-order breakfast or lunch/dinner cooking experience, is dependable, can multi-task, has a pitch-in/can-do attitude and possesses a personality that allows him/her to work well with others during moments of chaos.

The hours will vary with seasonal business fluctuations. This seasonal position will primarily work five morning shifts through mid-November for breakfast cook and five evening shifts through mid-November for evening cook. Additional days/extended hours may be needed, but most weeks you will have two scheduled days off and plenty of time to play. A vehicle isn't required for the job, but we are located in a remote area and you will enjoy your stay more if you can explore and experience all the area has to offer.
