The Island House
Come Work & Live where others Vacation!
Mackinac Island is a unique place located between Michigan's rugged upper and lower peninsulas where Lake Huron and Lake Michigan meet. There are no motor vehicles on the Island, which is accessible only by ferry, plane and private watercraft - no rush hour, no commute and clean air welcome you for your summer of work and play!
Originally built in 1852, The Island House was the first summer hotel on Mackinac Island. Today, we are a family of businesses and have hundreds of job opportunities at our following locations:
- The Island House Hotel
- The 1852 Grill Room Restaurant
- The Ice House Bar & Grill
- Mary's Bistro and Draught House
- The Pancake House Restaurant
- The various Starbucks on the island
- Ryba's Fudge Shop
We are excited to announce that a full renovation of the 1852 Grill Room is underway! This spring, when the restaurant opens, we expect great interest and business will follow. With the addition of our new Executive Chef, Phil Kromer, in 2013 it is shaping up to be an historic year for the 1852 Grill Room. It is our plan to offer several onsite training courses to our wait staff in conjunction with the Michigan Restaurant Association. We hope that you can be a part of it.
Mary’s Bistro is expected to begin an expansion this winter. The restaurant will increase in size by adding a new bar area called the Draught House. With fifty craft beers on tap it will be Mackinac’s only true tap room. We hope to offer all of our wait staff course specific craft beer training and look forward to this fresh concept on Mackinac Island.
Working on Mackinac Island is a truly unique experience. The Island House, and its family of businesses, offer some of the best employment opportunities on the Island, and we hope you consider joining us for summer 2014!
Jobs begin in early May and run through late October. We accept candidates that are available to work for varying lengths of time. Please keep in mind the later in the season a person can work the better, as many positions run through late October.
