The Acadia Corporation is a private company operating under contract with the National Park Service to provide visitor services for Acadia National Park. We operate three retail interpretive centers in the park (on the summit of Cadillac Mountain, overlooking the sea at Thunder Hole, and on the shores of Jordan Pond) and several gift shops outside the park in the resort community of Bar Harbor.

We also operate the Jordan Pond House, one of the areas best-known restaurants, serving luncheon, afternoon tea and dinner. Our primary mission is to provide a high level of service to the visitors of Acadia National Park and its surrounding residents.

Our Jobs

Food and Beverage, Retail, Office/Administrative, and Warehouse

Room and Board

We operate a rustic 60-bed dormitory next door to the Jordan Pond House, about 8 miles from the town of Bar Harbor. Dorm space is very cramped when the dorm is full during July and August. The rooms are arranged in 8-person pods, consisting of two 4-person bunk rooms with a very small common sitting room between them. Storage and living space are very limited. The dorm housing charge is $80/week per person, which includes meals prepared by the dorm cook. Kitchen facilities are not available for dorm residents.

We also operate apartment-style housing in Bar Harbor and Seal Harbor, which are shared by 4-5 employees per apartment (2 persons per room). Apartment rates are $115/week per person and include complete kitchen facilities.

All Acadia Corporation housing is supervised. All housing residents are required to sign a housing agreement including the length of stay and agreeing to all housing rules. A $100 housing deposit is due in advance for all locations.

You must be at least 18 years of age to live in Company housing.

Unfortunately, we do not offer RV spaces.

All company housing is designated as non-smoking. Those who wish to live in company housing must sign an agreement indicating their willingness to comply. Violators of the housing smoking policy may be subject to immediate eviction from company housing.

Limited housing is available on Mt. Desert Island. It tends to be difficult to find and quite expensive, and should be arranged as early as possible. Should you desire your own accommodations, we can provide only limited assistance.

For Fun

Bar Harbor is a busy resort community of 5,000 people with a number of restaurants and shops. Outdoor activities abound. Hiking, biking, canoeing, swimming, fishing, and sailing are just a few of the pursuits which visitors come to Acadia to enjoy. There are many cultural activities in the area, including music festivals, theatrical performances and movies. However, if you come from a major urban area or a large college campus, please bear in mind that the number of sporting events, concerts, and similar activities is very limited in our local area - these activities are generally several hours away. The employees who are happiest here are those who enjoy outdoor activities more than nightlife.
