St. Augustine Eco Tours (SAET) is a successful education company that’s been operating in the waters surrounding St. Augustine for six years.  This small, ethics driven company has earned the reputation of #1 tour on Trip Advisor due to the dedication, reliability, and professionalism exhibited by the Guides, Captains, and Office personnel.  SAET utilizes three different types of on-water experiences to educate both Florida residents and tourists; kayaking, sailing, and boating.  All Guides/Captains are required to provide an informative, fun, and meaningful experience for their guests.  SAET personnel are involved in educational and conservation activities such as wildlife rescue, etc.

 

Position Description:

SAET seeks a motivated and experienced Captain with a minimum USCG OUPV license, 50 ton + with sailing endorsement, TWIC card, Drug Consortium Member, First Aid & CPR certified.  Applicant must be able to confidently operate 1.5 – 3 hour programs on a 27’ Stiletto Catamaran and 18’ rigid hulled inflatable vessels.  Any serious applicant must have boat maintenance/mechanical experience and be able to work independently to perform regular and special project maintenance to upkeep the vessels in prime working condition. Tasks include but are not limited to performing oil changes, engine/electronics troubleshooting, vessel detailing, and standing/running rigging tuning and repair. Must have a keen eye for detail and a passion for environmental conservation and the vessels used for education.  Dedication to customer service is of paramount importance.  Excellent communication skills are required.  The ideal candidate will possess advanced knowledge of the ecology of Northeast Florida, specifically the estuarine and marine habitats, flora, and fauna.  Position considered full-time (or near full-time) for the right candidate.  Hours increase during high season (late spring – early fall).  

 

Equipment Requirements of Applicant:

-Must possess reliable means of transportation to get to/from work

-Must possess applicable Coast Guard license/endorsement

-Must possess working cell phone that will be used to communicate with SAET personnel

-Must possess clothing appropriate for working on the water and Florida weather conditions.  Attire must be professional in appearance.

-Must possess means to access email on a bi-weekly basis to receive company communications.

 

Schedule Requirements of Applicant:

-Must be able to run tours and be available for vessel maintenance 3 days/week+. Position can be considered full-time (or near full-time) for the right candidate.
