We invite you to join us for the summer at our charming Alaska log lodge located along the scenic Glenn Highway between Palmer and Glennallen, Alaska. We are a family owned and operated tourist resort business; featuring clean, comfortable, private guest cabins and a full-service restaurant. Our guests come from all over the world and enjoy nearby hiking and mountain biking trails, bird watching, Dall Sheep viewing on the slopes behind the lodge, Matanuska River rafting, glacier hiking and just relaxing in a beautiful mountain setting.
Employment for our summer seasonal jobs runs from mid-May through mid-September. Applicants who are available for a full season of summer employment are given first preference (May 13 to Sept. 15). Those with commitments at a college or university in either late May or in September should still apply.

-Scratch baking of breads, pies, cinnamon rolls, cookies, cakes, scones and muffins -Experienced with yeast breads/ sourdough -Early morning position -Other duties may occasionally include: taking reservations, food prep, serving and light housekeeping Some baking experience req. $1800/mo. +
-Prep bkfst from our menu -Prep of food items, including homemade soups -Maintaining kitchen sanitation, tracking food inventories -working with Chef and Prep Cook on food preparation schedules and kitchen organization -Resp. may at times include: prep work for dinner special etc. $1800/mo +
-Maintaining food quality -Food preparation -Kitchen sanitation -Weekly inventory and kitchen organization -prepare daily dinner specials of your choice as well as occasional staff dinners Able to lead and communicate well Three yrs. commercial kitchen exp. req'd $2500.00/mo salary + tip share
-Washing dishes (attention to detail) -food prep -cleaning the kitchen each night -helping with bussing tables when busy -occasionally cashier -various outdoors work such as gardening, mowing lawns, cleaning windows, etc. Maintenance of groundskeeping exp. preferred $9.75/hr + tip sharing
Cleaning our (11) cabins and (3) Guesthouses Washing and folding laundry Cleaning other lodge facilities Other resp. may include watering flowers and gardening Occ.Duties may include helping in the kitchen/dining room service Supervising housekeeping staff and procedures $1800/mo + tip share
Responsibilities: -Cleaning cabins, showerhouse, hot tub facilities -Doing laundry -Washing dishes (attention to detail) -occasional food prep -helping with bussing tables when busy -occasionally cashier -various outdoors work such as gardening, mowing lawns, cleaning windows, etc. $9.75/hr +
-Serving guests -dishwashing -helping with food prep -2 of lodge staff will have primary responsibilities of serving tables in the lodge (one morning, one evening) -busing tables and washing dishes -Occasionally may be required to help with outside work Must be 21 yrs old Ex.pref $9.75-$10.50/hr DOE
-Fill in for Chef and Breakfast cooks on their days off -Fill in for Baker on one of their days off -Keep kitchen well stocked and running smoothly -Making soups/assisting baker 2+ yrs exp. in commercial kitchen preferred $1900/mo. + tip share
Employees who work out best here are hard-working, flexible, always find something to do without being directed, are responsible in their working hours and non-working hours, love the outdoors and can self-direct their own extra-curricular activities. Our ideal candidate will be open to learning on the job and after work hours about a new State and other cultures. Our ideal candidate will be a contributing "house-mate" in our shared co-ed living quarters by cleaning up after themselves and observing quiet hours.
Room and Board
Room and board packages are available to full-time lodge staff for $250 per month. The room and board rate includes all meals 7-days per week, staff enjoy packing dry food and fresh fruit from our pantry for their weekend adventures. Lodge staff can prepare their own meals or eat staff meals occasionally prepared by the Lodge chef. Employee housing is two to a room in our Hillside House (new in 2004) which has a common area, shower, microwave, refrigerator, washer/dryer, TV w/DVD and local telephone line. Staff may bring their own laptop computers and subscribe to local ISP for internet connections at additional cost.
We pay a competitive hourly wage or monthly salary depending on position and experience; our staff work a maximum of 48 hours per week, and minimum 35 hours/week, 2 days off per week. We offer all employees a regular 2-day off per week work schedule. Gratuities are shared among all staff.
We are Alaskan owned and operated. Dollars earned in this business help support other Alaskan businesses and non-profit organizations. We offer on the job training for all positions, this is a summer work experience you can use to build your experience regardless of your field of interest.
Getting Here and Getting Around
Upon arrival in Anchorage, employees can catch a ride with a the Lodge owners (if they are in town) or take a bus from Downtown Anchorage (Interior Alaska Bus-Lines) for $40, a 2.5 hour drive that is scheduled for Sunday, Wednesday and Friday mornings.
The lodge is located 60 miles from the closest community. This can be challenging for some but a welcome and memorable remote experience for most.
During non-working hours, our staff enjoy hiking the local trails, camping, campfires, music, and nearby guided activities (15 minute drive) that include river-rafting, glacier-hiking and new in 2012, the Nitro zipline.
As a summer staff member, we invite you to work hard with us for the summer while enjoying the team-oriented atmosphere, natural setting, and local recreational opportunities. At Sheep Mountain your co-workers are also your housemates and friends. Staff members must have the ability to entertain themselves with the nearby natural attractions (hiking, biking, rafting) or other self-directed activities (reading, writing, playing music, etc).
