Wrangell Mountain Air, Inc. is an air service based at McCarthy, Alaska in the heart of Wrangell-St. Elias National Park and Preserve. As a complement to our air service we also operate a scheduled van service between the town of McCarthy and Kennecott, a National Historic Landmark.
Our company provides charters, scheduled flights and day trips to McCarthy, as well as flightseeing tours and fly-in backcountry hiking and rafting. Our mission is to provide safe, reliable air transportation and an exceptional visitor experience in Wrangell-St. Elias National Park.

Wrangell Mountain Air is looking for a few energetic, adventurous people to join our crew this season. Unique outdoor activities are just some of the benefits for applicants with excellent customer service skills, strong work ethic and a fun loving spirit.
A professional, customer service oriented staff is very important to us and is the backbone of our company. We look for people who are team players, self motivated and employ their individual skills with enthusiasm and professionalism. Our goal is not just to “get the job done” but to take it to the next level.
Living and working in McCarthy is an interesting combination of the past and present. Situated near the center of the Park are two towns that date back to frontier times at the turn of the century. Surrounded by the largest National Park in the U.S., McCarthy offers a great “jumping off spot” for visitors and employees alike. We offer our staff backcountry trips on a space available basis and have reciprocal agreement with other guide services in town for glacier hikes and rafting. There is many areas within walking distance of Kennicott to explore on day or overnight hikes.
Accommodation is provided in the form of individual canvas wall tents with wooden frame and floors. The crew house is a shared facility with cooking, laundry and shower facilities as well as an entertainment center.
Meals are not provided, however orders can be placed when we have an empty airplane returning form Anchorage or groceries can be purchased locally from the McCarthy Mercantile. There are a few eating establishments in the area.
Pay is by the hour for a 40 hour work week. We try to arrange the schedule around a 4 day work week. Free or low cost fly-in back country trips are available to all staff. Free activities through other area vendors.
Transportation is provided to McCarthy from Anchorage and back at the end of the season. Bringing your personal car is not necessary. A bicycle is more useful.
