Historic Hudson Valley Youth Conservation Corps


Overall responsibilities: Each of two team leaders will provide leadership and supervision for a team of six high school students who will be engaged in conservation work including building trails, structures, and walkways.


Philipsburg Manor

Principal Duties:

• Work alongside Historic Hudson Valley staff to receive training and skills needed for the project (four weeks) • Lead and supervise a crew of six high school students engaged in conservation work (seven weeks) • Train high school crew in work skills and proper tool use • Lead formal and informal educational activities • Liaise with and take direction from Historic Hudson Valley staff

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities:

• Strong leadership skills • Background or interest in youth development • Strong work ethic • Excellent verbal and written communication skills • Driver’s license and a clean driving record • Good physical condition • Prior background in conservation work a plus

Work Conditions:

• Exposure to changing weather conditions in a mostly outdoor environment • Lift and move heavy loads

Salary:

• $500/week

Transportation Info

Location: Lower Westchester County, New York (Tarrytown/Irvington)

Employer cannot provide housing. Applicants must have housing in the area.
