Established in 1966, Mountain Camp in the high sierras is a traditional coed summer resident camp offering one and two week sessions for children 7 to 15 years old.
Mountain Camp's minimal technology, non-competitive program is designed to make each child a “winner”. We work to create a fun and safe environment that encourages independence while nurturing lasting friendships. Mountain Camp intentionally developed a program that centers on self-created, self-propelled, and wind propelled activities. At a time when children are increasingly surrounded by computers, televisions, and video games our goal is to get campers outside actively creating, playing and learning life long outdoor skills.
Positions are available for experienced, responsible and enthusiastic young leaders who would be interested in devoting their summer to working with children in a positive, outdoor environment. We are looking for outstanding role models who want to inspire youth and create memories that will last a lifetime.
On top of all of the time you’ll spend with campers participating in the wonderful activities we offer at camp, staff is allowed to use our camp equipment during their daily time off. Mountain Biking, Kayaking and Windsurfing are just a few of the activities that our staff have chosen to do in years past

All summer counseling staff live in rustic cabins with 8-12 campers and one other co-counselor. Cabins do have electricity, but they do not have plumbing. Shower houses are located nearby. You will sleep on a bunk bed that has a mattress provided by camp. You will need to bring linens or a warm sleeping bag and pillow.

Staff will be provided with 3 meals a day, plus a snack. Breakfast is typically a hot option with a cereal bar and fresh fruit. Lunch and Dinner have a hot option with a salad bar and a peanut butter and jelly table. There is a vegetarian option at every meal; however we cannot accommodate any other dietary restrictions. You are welcome to bring your own food to camp; however it cannot be stored in the cabin (due to pesky animals) and must be stored in the staff loft or staff refrigerator.
