Summer Camp Job Opportunities with the Girl Scouts of Western Washington

Every girl should have the opportunity to participate in Girl Scouts: to develop courage, confidence, and character, make the world a better place, and become one of our future leaders.

Girl Scouts is a unique girl-only place where a girl finds:

Girl Scouts of Western Washington serves more than 27,000 girls ages 5-17 in Western Washington. Girls participate in age-based programs as part of a troop or as individual Girl Scouts.

Camp River Ranch offers 435 acres of forest and trails with a river and lake on the property in the Cascade foothills. Only 10 minutes from shopping and entertainment and just 40 minutes from downtown Seattle. River Ranch offers a variety of programs including swimming, boating, crafts, environmental education, outdoor skills, English and Western horseback riding, biking, backpacking, leadership, and drama.

Camp Robbinswold is located on the Hood Canal on 431 acres on the Olympic Peninsula. It includes more than a mile of saltwater beachfront and a secluded freshwater lake. Programs at Camp Robbinswold include swimming, boating, crafts, marine biology, outdoor skills, outdoor cooking, the arts, windsurfing, sailing, biking, llama tripping, backpacking and leadership.

Camp St. Albans is located near Belfair on 414 acres of gorgeous lake front property near Belfair in south Puget Sound. Programs at St. Albans includes English and Western horseback riding, backpacking, leadership, swimming, boating, crafts, environmental education and outdoor skills.

Recreation

All Camps have leadership, canoeing & swimming, arts/crafts, day hikes, trips (llama, backpacking), singing, games, cookouts, and overnights.

Camp River Ranch has a challenge course, climbing wall and horses. They also offer bike and rafting trips.

Camp Robbinswold has 1.5 miles of saltwater beach and has sailing, windsurfing and sea kayaking.

Camp St. Albans has horses and Viking boats and offer rafting trips.

Room and Board

Housing options: Platform Tents and Shared Cabin

Most meals are prepared by the kitchen staff and eaten in the lodge. Each group cooks out with their unit outside the lodge 2-3 times weeks. Vegetarian and Vegan diets can be accommodated.

Counselors share a cabin or shelter with other counselors near the girls’ cabins. There are 4-6 beds/ cabin or shelter. Shelters are either open air cabins, covered wagons, platform tents, troop houses (all indoors) or other unique shelters. Very fun! Many units have flush toilets, but some have pit latrines (well-cared for!). Hot showers are available.

Benefits

Compensation Competitive pay ranging from $1600 - $5000 depending on position. Medical insurance is also provided if you become ill during your time at camp.

Time Off 24 hours off each week, two mid summer breaks and personal time during the day. We also offer 3 days of paid illness absence to support our staff if they become ill.

Career Development A full week of training kicks off the summer with additional opportunities to learn new skills, develop leadership abilities, receive coaching and mentoring and develop training and presentation skills.

Trip Opportunities There are many opportunities to pursue -overnight and day trips. Take a canoe or kayak trip, take a llama and bicycling trip or just do an old fashioned day hike and cookout.

Community Everything we do is focused on helping girls grow strong, building a safe community and having fun. We are committed to leave no trace, composting and other environmental principals. Community is an intangible benefit to working with Totem, but it is the most important one.

Other Amenities
Onsite staff internet access, laundry facilities, break areas and accommodating kitchen staff help make our camps some of the best places to work this summer!

Transportation Info

Staff are responsible to get themselves to and from camp. Camp can arrange pickup from bus terminals, train depots and airports at the beginning and ending of camp.

Staff do not have to have a car at camp. Staff with cars are encouraged to carpool on time off, etc. Sometimes camp will offer a shuttle to and from nearby towns and cities during session breaks.
