French Woods Festival of the Performing Arts Summer Camp

French Woods hires a staff of highly qualified teachers and coaches supplemented by college age counselor specialists to provide the finest instruction in music, theatre, dance, circus, art, sports, horseback riding, tennis, waterfront, computers and challenge ropes course. Our campers choose their own activities, so your students will always be interested and motivated in what you have to teach them.

Unlike many other camps, we hire specialty counselors exclusively at French Woods. We are looking for individuals with strong skills and teaching abilities in one or more of the areas listed on the application Although it is not required, enclosing a personal resume along with your completed application form is recommended.

Sleep and Eat

In bunkhouses with children for counselors and specialists, private housing for department heads and directors. We provide 3 full meals a day, plus snacks in the evening, and our food is some of the best anywhere in camping.

For Fun

Staff trips are arranged on days off, 2.5 hours to New York City, Staff can partake of camp activities during time off. Staff Lounge has phone, internet and satellite TV.

Please download and complete the staff application and have two reference forms sent from people who are familiar with your work (reference forms included in staff application). We hire on a rolling acceptance basis. The earlier you apply, the more positions we will likely have available!

Skatepark
Skateboarding and rollerblading in our indoor park including a beginner area, a 3 foot mini ramp half-pipe, a 10 foot vertical half-pipe as well as a large street course area, and a 6 foot deep kidney shaped bowl.

Ropes Course
A climbing wall, a zip line into the woods, a leap of faith and aerial obstacle courses high in the trees.

Music
All orchestral instruments, piano, keyboards, guitar and voice, musical directors and conductors rock music instructors: drums, bass, keyboards, songwriting

Circus
All types of trapeze, lyra, silk, rings and other arial acts, clowning, juggling, web, globe, fire eating, unicycle, stilts gymnasts and martial artists

Magic
Card, close up and stage illusions

Horseback Riding
English and Western styles, grooming and stable maintenance, dressage and jumping

Sports
Basketball, baseball, softball, soccer, volleyball, roller hockey and blading, skateboarding, mountain biking, BMX biking, fencing, martial arts and weight training gymnastics, golf.

Waterfront
American Red Cross certified specialists in swimming, sailing, waterskiing, boating and canoeing

Theatre
Directing, acting teachers, set design and construction, scenic painters, lighting, sound, video, choreography, music directors

Dance
Ballet, tap, jazz, modern, hip-hop, show choreography and other styles of dance

Art
Painting and drawing, cartooning, ceramics, silk screen, tie dye, jewelry, leather, woodworking, stained glass black and white photography, digital photography, graphic design, knitting, rocketry and many other craft areas.
