The Chisos Mountains Lodge, operated by Forever Resorts, Inc., is located in the Chisos Basin at 5,400 feet elevation, inside Big Bend National Park The lodge offers a variety of rooms and cottages, plus a gift shop and dining room.

Big Bend National Park, named for the great turn the Rio Grande makes in Southwest Texas, encompasses over 800,000 acres. Established in 1944, this extraordinary Park contains three natural divisions: the Rio Grande with its meandering 118 miles of lush, green floodplain, the sprawling Chihuahuan Desert, and the majestic Chisos Mountain Range.

Called the "Last Frontier of Texas," Big Bend nevertheless boasts excellent, paved roads to and through the Park. Dramatic contrasts in topography, climate and scenery, along with its unique world of plant and animal life, make Big Bend more of an awe-inspiring experience than just a place to visit.

Chisos Mountain Lodge is open year-round.

Recreation

Sometimes considered "three parks in one," Big Bend includes mountain, desert, and river environments. An hour’s drive can take you from the banks of the Rio Grande to a mountain basin nearly a mile high. Here, you can explore one of the last remaining wild corners of the United States, and experience unmatched sights, sounds, and solitude. There are over 200 miles of hiking trails throughout Big Bend National Park.

Room and Board

Housing options: Dorms

Room and meals are not a part of compensation, but are provided and charged for at a reduced employee rate. Charges for Room and Board are handled as a Payroll Deduction.

The charge for Room is $2 per day, which includes a full kitchen, washer, dryer and satellite TV.

Meal charges are $2.50 each, and employees are charged only for the meals they eat.

Employees living in quarters furnished by the Company must share the space with fellow employees ~ two or more people, usually, occupy a room. Housing for married couples is limited but available. Linens, blankets, etc. are furnished by the Company. Employees are responsible for the cleanliness of their quarters. Most areas have washing machines for employees' use, but few have dry-cleaning establishments within a practical distance from the park. Most areas are extremely isolated and many conveniences you may be accustomed to may not be available. Rapid adjustment to these conditions is essential.

Transportation Info

Employees are responsible for their own transportation to and from Big Bend National Park.

How to Apply

All persons being employed for the first season shall have completed an application form provided by Forever/NPC Resorts, LLC. It should be fully understood that any false statement, answer or entry on the application form or in any document, letter, etc. may be deemed sufficient cause for termination of employment without notice at a later date. The release of information authorization must be signed. Ensure that correct addresses are provided for previous employers and personal references. This will greatly expedite the processing of your application.

Persons applying for jobs in the "specialist" category (cook, accountant, licensed boat pilot, skilled maintenance personnel and others) should complete the standard application form, and provide additional information to establish qualifications for these positions if possible.

Openings also occur at seasonal operations in mid-season and applicants who are available at the time through the end of the season will receive special consideration.

In addition to the general qualifications for the type of work applied for, all employees are required to be pleasant, cheerful, dependable, sober, capable, hardworking, strong and in good health, neat in dress and appearance, industrious, with good living habits, and be easy to get along with.
