Owned and operated by the Walker family since 1947, the Colorado Mountain Ranch summer camp provides a warm, friendly environment where individual growth and learning occur through confidence-building activities in an active outdoor setting.

The Colorado Mountain Ranch is looking for a few high-spirited, multi-talented and skilled people to join our team and help with all aspects of the overall operations of The Ranch. Adventurous programming abounds at the ranch, where campers can participate in everything from a challenge ropes course and mountain boarding (ever try it?) to Western horseback riding, swimming, hiking and camping. A new program for 2008 is called Earth!, offering experiences in sustainable living. And Water!, offers the American Red Cross GuardStart curriculum for young teenagers and the chance for lots of pool time.

Summer staff are instrumental in creating and implementing every aspect of ranch programs and activities, facility use, food service, construction projects and maintenance. Every job—ranging from activity instructors to wranglers—involves inspiring and guiding campers, participating enthusiastically in all daily activities and embracing the Native American philosophy of respect for self, others and nature. Depending on the position, first year staff members can earn $150-$250/per week (plus a contract bonus), along with meals, housing, leadership training and, of course, living in the mountains! Seasonal job opportunities are available from May 21st through October 1st (at minimum, you must commit to a June 3rd through August 13th term).

Recreation

Since we are in the mountains, there are great hiking trails everywhere! Only ten miles from Boulder, where staff can go on days and nights off. Staff plans one optional trip where we choose an activity such as white water rafting. The Boulder Reservoir offers a nice beach-like setting to cool off on the hot days.

Room and Board

Housing options: Bunkhouse and Shared Cabin

Staff members live at The Ranch in separate male and female bunkhouse-style dormitory cabins.

Benefits

We work 6 days and 3-4 evenings each week. Salaries range from $150 to $250 per week plus room and board.

In addition to salary and room and board, staff receive laundry service, leadership training, future personnel references, and the opportunity to make good friends and to be a creator and contributor in a cooperative, active, outdoor mountain community.

Transportation Info

Arrangements can be made to pick you up from either Denver airport or Boulder. There is no transportation allowance for flights or buses. Personal vehicles may be brought to the ranch to be used on days and nights off.
