245 days of Skiing, Riding, Working!

Arapahoe Basin Ski Area is looking for hard working and reliable people to work with us for the 2009/2010 ski season in Colorado. We are a smaller ski area located in the heart of the Colorado Rocky Mountains in Summit County, Colorado with one of the longest ski seasons in North America.

Arapahoe Basin is a day-use ski and snowboard area only. We offer full-service food and beverage facilities, rentals, retail, ski and ride lessons and FREE PARKING!

The staff at Arapahoe Basin is friendly and service oriented with a love for the outdoors. We see a lot of returning staff each season but are always looking for more to fulfill our needs. Our last winter season began on October 10,2008 and the ski area closed on June 8, 2009. That meant 245 days of skiing and riding!

Sleep and Eat

Arapahoe Basin offers employee housing on a limited basis which is first come – first serve just 5 miles from the ski area in Keystone. There are 27 bed spaces offered on a seasonal basis only. Each unit consists of 3 single bedrooms, a shared bathroom, kitchen and living room. Rent is $400/month per person with a $400 security deposit required upon moving in. We are able to deduct rent from employee paychecks after the initial down payment. Linens and towels are not provided. The rent does include heat, water, electric, trash pick-up and cable. Phone and internet can be connected with the local utility companies. Meals are not provided.

Other Perks

All of our seasonal positions are on an hourly pay scale. A typical work week consists of between 35-40 hours based on the time of year and work available. Paydays are every other Monday at noon throughout the season. Medical, Dental and Vision insurance is offered to full-time seasonal employees at a low cost via payroll deduction. Arapahoe Basin also offers numerous in-area discounts to our employees including discounted lift tickets, rentals, retail items and food and beverage items during the season. Free lift tickets are also earned based on hours worked. A 16 mountain ski pass is offered to both full and part-time employees. Full-time hours are 30 hours or more a week and part-time are 30 hours or less.

Getting Here and Getting Around

Arapahoe Basin is located 67 miles west of Denver and about 10 miles off of I-70 on US Hwy 6/Loveland Pass. There is very little public transportation from the Denver area. If you are flying in you can ride Colorado Mountain Express to the mountain area by making a reservation at www.ridecme.com. Within Summit County, there is free bus transportation on the Summit Stage www.summitstage.com year-round however, from Keystone to the ski area, the bus only runs from mid-November – late April. There are multiple car-pooling opportunities as well. Please see our website for driving directions. Arapahoe Basin does not provide employee transportation.

For Fun

Arapahoe Basin has a lot to offer to both employees and guests. Our terrain consists of 10% easy terrain, 30% intermediate terrain, 37% advanced terrain and 23% expert terrain. With the addition of Montezuma Bowl in January 2008, Arapahoe Basin now offers 900 acres of skiing and riding. There is no available lodging at Arapahoe Basin so most of the excitement happens during the day. Other recreational opportunities near Arapahoe Basin include: hiking, climbing, biking, rafting, Nordic skiing, ice skating, tubing and of course shopping. The nearest town is located 5 miles west in Keystone.
