Uniforms are required and will be partially provided by the company. Employees should contact Human Resources prior to arrival for specific uniform requirements. Employees will provide their own shoes (black or brown depending on the employees work area).
The North Rim has positions in the following departments:
FOOD & BEVERAGE MANAGEMENT
Management - Perform all aspects of kitchen, dining room, deli, and employee dining room staff. Plan menus, order food, maintain safety and sanitation practices, and oversee daily operations. Train and supervise staff, make schedules, attend manager meetings, perform payroll functions, address and resolve guest complaints, and promote a teamwork environment.
KITCHEN
Dishwasher - Wash dishes, pots and pans in fast paced environment. Assist cooks in food prep. Cleaning duties. Sort recyclables.
Steward - Responsible for cleanliness of the kitchen. Wash dishes, pots and pans, equipment, grills, ovens, and surfaces. Assists where necessary.
Pantry cook - Prepare salads and other food items for the dining room and deli restaurants. Cook to order. Very fast paced. Kitchen experience helpful.
Line cook - Prepare food for guests in extremely fast paced and busy environment. Responsible for prep work, set-up and producing an assortment of menu items. Coordinate with pantry cooks on appropriate timing of orders. Previous line-cook experience necessary.
Inventory - Plan, order, receive, inventory, store, and deliver food, equipment, and support materials. Maintain dry, high value, cold, and frozen inventory. Knowledge of computer based spreadsheets, purchase orders, and invoices necessary. Must possess valid drivers license.
Management - Perform all aspects of kitchen staff. Oversee daily operations for dining room kitchen, serving breakfast, lunch, and dinner to 1,000+ guests daily. Order and prepare food, and maintain health and sanitation standards. Maintain a focus on quality, variety, and use of natural and organic ingredients. Maintain safety and sanitation practices. Train and supervise staff, make schedules, attend manager meetings, perform payroll functions, address and resolve guest complaints, and promote a teamwork environment.
DINING ROOM
Host - Greet and seat guests, answer phone, extensive customer service.
Busser (server assistant) - Assist servers in serving guests. Clear and set tables, pour water and coffee, and prepare desserts. Physical and fast paced.
Server - Serve our guests in the lodge dining room. Must have excellent customer service skills. Side work and cleaning duties. Cash handling. Previous experience necessary. Must be at least 21 years of age.
Bartender - Pour and serve alcoholic drinks in a very fast paced environment. Cash handling. Previous experience necessary. Must be at least 21 years of age.
Coffee bar attendant - Prepare and serve espresso beverages. Serve dessert and pastry items. Clear and set tables. Cash handling. Previous experience helpful.
Management - Oversee daily operations of high volume, fine dining restaurant. Perform all aspects of restaurant positions, including waiting tables, bussing, and hosting. Maintain high customer service standards. Train and supervise staff, make schedules, attend manager meetings, perform payroll functions, address and resolve guest complaints, and promote a teamwork environment.
DELI
Deli attendant - Perform all job duties in fast paced casual restaurant, including taking orders, cash handling, prepping, cooking and serving food, bussing tables, and customer service. Previous restaurant and/or cooking experience helpful.
Management - Oversee daily operations of high volume casual dining restaurant. Perform all aspects of deli operations. Train and supervise staff, make schedules, attend manager meetings, perform payroll functions, address and resolve guest complaints, and promote a teamwork environment.
COOKOUT / SERVICE STATION / RECREATION RENTAL
Service station staff - Customer service, cash handling, inventory receiving/stocking/merchandising, sell gasoline, bicycle maintenance, hiking/trekking equipment maintenance, bicycle/hiking/trekking equipment rental, restroom and building cleanliness.
Service help - Work in an outdoor environment conveying to guests the atmosphere of a western cookout. Clean and prep tables for food service. Responsible for food service to guests. Monitor food and beverage service activities. Assists guests as required. Cash handling.
Runner/prep - Prepare food items as necessary to assist cooks. Transport food to serving location. Assist in service as required. Kitchen experience helpful.
Cook - Prepare food for guests in an outdoor cookout environment. Responsible for prep work, set-up and producing an assortment of menu items. Coordinate with other cooks and staff on appropriate timing of service. Previous line-cook experience necessary.
Entertainment/shuttle - Work in an outdoor environment conveying to guests the atmosphere of a western cookout. Entertain guests with western/cowboy singing, storytelling, and music. Drive shuttle transporting guests from lodge areas to food service area. Must possess valid driver’s license.
Management - Oversee daily operations of service station areas and high volume cookout. Perform all aspects of service station and cookout operations. Train and supervise staff, make schedules, attend manager meetings, perform payroll functions, address and resolve guest complaints, and promote a teamwork environment.
EMPLOYEE DINING ROOM
Dishwasher - Rinse and clean dishes, flatware, and cooking pots/utensils. Practice proper sanitation. Clean kitchen, dining area, entry, and restrooms.
Cook - Prepare and serve food for 220+ staff members. Collaborate on menus. Focus on varied, balanced, and delicious. Previous cooking experience necessary. Batch cooking experience helpful.
Management - Perform all aspects of employee dining room staff. Oversee daily operations for employee dining room, serving breakfast, lunch, and dinner to 220+ employees daily. Develop menus, order and prepare food, and maintain health and sanitation standards. Maintain a focus on quality, variety, and use of natural and organic ingredients. Maintain safety and sanitation practices. Train and supervise staff, make schedules, attend manager meetings, perform payroll functions, address and resolve guest complaints, and promote a teamwork environment.
FRONT DESK
Guest service agent - Guest reservations, check-in, check-out, resolve room issues, cash handling, customer relations, office work, switchboard, and multi-tasking. Extensive typing and computer work. A very busy environment. Previous experience helpful.
Bell attendant - Assists guests with luggage and baggage. Transports luggage/baggage to/from guest accommodations. Must have ability to safely drive utility cart. Must adhere to safety and sanitation guidelines. Assist in lodge and guest accommodation area cleanliness. Assist in tour luggage pulls.
Porter - Responsible for maintaining cleanliness of lodge lobby, Sun Room, verandas, guest restrooms, and lodge porches/sidewalks/hallways/auditorium/entry circle. Must adhere to safety and sanitation guidelines. Assist in tour luggage pulls.
Post office - Manage one person post office. Receive, sort, and distribute incoming mail. Sort and assess postage for outgoing postcards, letters, and packages. Maintain stamp inventory. Sell stamps and postal products. Package handling. Cash handling.
Management - Perform all aspects of the guest service agent. Check reservations for accuracy, find solutions for guest complaints, train and supervise staff, make schedules, attend manager meetings, perform payroll functions, address and resolve guest complaints, and promote a teamwork environment.
HOUSEKEEPING
Guest room attendant - Clean guest lodging units, make beds, assist in laundry, separate recyclables, trash removal. Work in teams. Work both indoors and outdoors. The ability to do physical work is required. No experience necessary.
Guest room inspector - Perform all aspects of the guest room attendant position. Perform daily inspections on all guest rooms to ensure proper cleaning has been done.
Laundry attendant - Sort, maintain, and deliver/pickup laundry (bed linens, bath towels, dining room napkins/table cloths). Send and receive laundry from cleaning vendor. No experience necessary.
Management - Oversee daily operations in housekeeping department. Responsible for cleanliness of guest units. Ensure all guest units and cabin/motel areas are well maintained, safe, and clean. Perform all aspects of the guest room attendant position. Train and supervise staff, make schedules, attend manager meetings, perform payroll functions, address and resolve guest complaints, and promote a teamwork environment.
GIFT SHOP
Sales associate - Work in sales, stocking, inventory control, customer service, cash handling, daily cleaning, and shipping. Must be able to work in a fast paced retail environment with lifting, bending, and standing. Previous experience helpful.
Management - Oversee daily operations. Perform all aspects of sales associate. Perform ordering, shipping, and receiving functions. Perform established guidelines in regard to receiving, stocking, merchandising, and sales of inventory. Train and supervise staff, make schedules, attend manager meetings, perform payroll functions, address and resolve guest complaints, and promote a teamwork environment.
GENERAL STORE
Sales associate - Work in sales, stocking, inventory control, customer service, cash handling, daily cleaning, and shipping. Must be able to work in a retail environment with lifting, bending, and standing. Previous experience helpful.
Management - Oversee daily operations. Perform all aspects of sales associate. Perform ordering, shipping, and receiving functions. Perform established guidelines in regard to receiving, stocking, merchandising, and sales of inventory. Train and supervise staff, make schedules, attend manager meetings, perform payroll functions, address and resolve guest complaints, and promote a teamwork environment.
MAINTENANCE
Groundskeeper - Responsible for the grounds of the lodge, guest units area, and employee housing area. Duties include clean up of pine needles, pine cones, branches and other debris, ground plant trimming, rodent control, litter pickup, and help with recycling and maintenance. Must possess valid driver’s license.
General maintenance - Daily maintenance and repair of guest units, lodge buildings and dorm areas. Perform preventative maintenance. Extensive maintenance, electrical, plumbing, and carpentry experience necessary. Work on-call shifts during evening hours. Must possess valid driver’s license.
Management - Oversee daily operations. Perform all aspects of general maintenance. Be able to read and understand building/site blueprints and plans. Work within National Park Service and company guidelines. Coordinate and manage maintenance vendor activities. Work with Historic Building Preservation guidelines. Must possess valid driver’s license. Train and supervise staff, make schedules, attend manager meetings, perform payroll functions, and promote a teamwork environment.
ENVIRONMENTAL/RISK MANAGMENT
Security - A night position. Responsible for the safety and security of all property grounds and buildings. Patrol property grounds. Ensure windows and doors are locked and secure. Assists with guest issues. Patrol employee dorms and common areas. First aid and CPR training required (will be provided if necessary). Must possess valid driver’s license.
Recycling - Collect all recyclables. Package, bundle, and prepare for shipment of all recyclables. Assist in grounds maintenance. Must possess valid driver’s license.
Management - Oversee daily operations. Perform all aspects of security and recycling. Must possess valid driver’s license. Train and supervise staff, make schedules, attend manager meetings, perform payroll functions, and promote a teamwork environment.
ACCOUNTING
Accounting clerk - Accounts payable & accounts receivable, all aspects of payroll, help in accounting. Previous accounting and payroll experience helpful. Must possess valid driver’s license.
Information Management Clerk - Knowledgeable of all property computer software and systems. Resolve problems and issues with software and hardware. Assist in accounting office activities. Must possess valid driver’s license.
Management – Oversee daily operations. Peform all aspects of accounting and information management. Train and supervise staff, make schedules, attend manager meetings, perform payroll functions, and promote a teamwork environment.
HUMAN RESOURCES
Administrative assistant - Assist in employee records management, employee recruiting, employee benefits, resolving employee issues, employee housing, planning employee recreation activities, planning employee recreation trips, managing the employee recreation fund, and resolving issues. Must possess valid driver’s license.
Dorm proctor - Manage employee dormitories, clean rooms prior to occupancy, clean rooms at end of season, assign rooms, manage furniture inventory, accomplish room inspections, clean employee common areas to include laundry rooms and areas around buildings, and assist in human resources office activities.
Employee shuttle – Drive employee shuttle van between employee housing area and lodge areas transporting employees to/from work. Must possess valid driver’s license.
Management - Oversee daily operations. Perform all aspects of human resources office. Recruit employees. Resolve employee issues. Manage employee records. Responsible for employee benefits. Coordinate employee Workman’s Compensation. Coordinate employee recreation activities. Train and supervise staff, make schedules, attend manager meetings, perform payroll functions, and promote a teamwork environment.
Normally we will only accept full season applicants. However, positions do open during the season. Mid season applicants must be willing to accept positions as needed.
