General Information / What to Expect at Lost Creek Ranch / To Apply


Thank you for your recent inquiry about employment opportunities at Lost Creek Ranch. We are a Four-Star guest ranch which operates from Late May through Early October with approximately 45 seasonal staff members. We would like employees to be at the Ranch around May 1st and work till early October. The caliber of the staff contributes greatly to our industry rating and the number of guests returning year after year. The Ranch complies with Federal Wage and Hour regulations, and room and board are provided at no charge. All employees must be willing to help in any of the departments on a need basis. Due to insurance requirements, preference is given to individuals who are age 21 or older, and in some instances, age 23 or older. Applicants must be available to work the ENTIRE SEASON. The requirement for all employees to have current CPR and First Aid certification. For all positions, it would be desirable if you had hiking experience.

Open Positions are as follows:

Administration

Rotator Help in all areas of the Ranch as directed. Tasks may include serving wine at dinner, driving to town for Ranch errands, helping with laundry on guest changeover day, covering shifts on days off, transporting guests, assisting with activities, etc. Must be able to learn easily and like indoor/outdoor tasks plus diversity in job.
Office Assistant Ability to perform all office functions including telephones, guest inquiries, mail, record keeping, correspondence, and manage information flow to all departments through computer literacy. Must be able to handle multiple tasks easily and enjoy working with people. Must have strong communication skills, be prompt, and work well as a team member. Responsible for daily straightening of the gift shop and cleaning of the office area.

Corral

Wrangler/Guide Experience required and must be able to demonstrate excellent horse handling skills. Must be safety conscious, ability to instruct guests of all ages, farrier skills are a plus. Riding program includes half and all day outings. Activities program includes children’s cookout, scenic river floating, hiking in Grand Teton National Park, touring Yellowstone by van. Provide guest transportation, and perform other duties as directed.
Vet/Wrangler/Guide Proficient knowledge of horses and veterinary medicine. Must be able to determine and treat daily, external punctures and cuts, bruises, sprains, any other common ailments, and knowledge of whether or not a DVM is needed. Farrier skills not required but helpful. Riding on a daily basis, assisting wrangler staff as needed with transportation, driving float trips, and Yellowstone trips.
Head Wrangler Oversee staff of seven. Prepare work schedules and assign tack and horses to weekly guests. Plan daily riding program to include instruction needed and levels of rides. Supervise ranch horse activities including but not limited to lease and care of horses, controlling and budgeting supplies, and general maintenance of areas and equipment. Must be flexible and willing to work in any capacity.

Kitchen

Chef Experience required. Must be able to demonstrate skills at a 5-Star dining level. Must supervise a staff of 7, plan menus, order, maintain budgeted food costs. Plan staff meals for 35 and guest meals for 55 for three meals a day, everyday. Prepare schedules, and training for kitchen crew and support staff. Full charge breakfast, lunch, and dinner including but not limited to cookouts and larger groups. Must also handle dietary requirements for guests as well as staff.
Baker Experience required and must be able to demonstrate skills at 5-Star dining level. Assist Chef in planning and preparing all baked goods for three daily guest meals, special guest celebrations and staff. Assist in meal preparation, maintain inventory, and clean work area.
Cook / Sous Chef Experience required and must be able to demonstrate skills at a 5-Star dining level. Rotate full charge breakfast, assist Chef and other Cooks with guest and staff lunch and dinner and outdoor cookouts. Maintain a clean work area. Meal production may include large groups.
Kitchen Steward / Dishwasher Reports to Chef and responsible for dish washing area, floors, supply stocking, closing kitchen. Ability to work independently with attention to health and safety standards. Based on skills, may maintain equipment.

Dining

Dining Server Experience preferred but will train individuals who like to work hard on a team and interface with guests. May work all mealtimes, including staff meals and perform some food preparation, buffet set-up and maintenance, serving, bus tables, rotate AM and PM dish washing and outdoor cookouts.
Dining Supervisor Experience preferred. Maintain a 5-Star dining attitude while overseeing a staff of six-seven. Prepare work schedules, train staff, perform serving function, maintain inventories of service pieces, report to Chef on dining functions, handle special guest and employee requirements. Be organized, methodical, and demonstrate the importance of teamwork. Control budgeted expenses.

Housekeeping

Housekeeper Clean all Ranch facilities including but not limited to the Lodge, recreation areas, decks and furniture, activities building and office, and guest cabins. Maintain appropriate stock of supplies. Assist in laundry, rotate child care during dinner hour, and help with other Ranch activities as requested. Experience desired but will train the independent and detail minded. 
Housekeeping Supervisor Oversee staff of six. Prepare work schedules and assign cleaning responsibilities for Ranch and guest buildings and areas. Maintain a Five-Star attitude and demonstrate teamwork and pride in overall appearance of the Ranch. Be responsive to guest requirements outside the planned needs Rotate childcare during dinner hours. Responsible for supply inventory, expense budget, the general maintenance of equipment, the laundry room, and vans. 

Maintenance

Ranch Hand No experience required. Must desire to work diligently indoors and outdoors on a variety of tasks which may include grounds care, garbage patrol, vehicle cleaning, minor cabin repair, swimming pool maintenance, chopping wood, assisting Kitchen Steward, and working in any department as needed. Plan on a full workweek spanning six days. 
Maintenance Supervisor Experience desired in several skill areas such as carpentry, plumbing, refrigeration, electrical, vehicle and general Ranch operations. Oversee staff of two-three, including preparation of work schedules and supervision of all tasks as assigned by Manager and Ranch Owners. Be available to start work early (late April) and stay after the season for close down. Maintain a Five-Star attitude and develop teamwork with all department heads to determine maintenance needs and priorities. Control budgeted expenses. 

Spa

Massage Therapist Experience and professional certification required to fulfill the requirements of this position. Must have working knowledge of massage therapy as well as all other therapies to include but not limited to Seaweed & Vitamin/Mineral Wrap, Dead Sea Fango Mud Masque, Sea Salt Body Scrub, Fango Salicyl Bath, and Aromatherapy. Will be responsible for scheduling treatments for guests and arranging for sub-contractor therapists. Maintain a 5-Star attitude and demonstrate teamwork and pride in overall appearance of the Spa facility. Responsible for supply inventory, expense budget, general maintenance, and cleanliness of Spa.
Personal Trainer / Aerobic Instructor Experience and professional certification required to fulfill the requirements of this position. Will be responsible for overall supervision of state of the art weight room. Maintain a 5-Star attitude and demonstrate teamwork and pride in overall appearance of the weight room. Responsible for supply inventory, general maintenance and cleanliness of weight room.
