Year-Round Professional - Benefits Manager
Xanterra South Rim LLC is seeking an experienced BENEFTIS MANAGER. This position reports to the Human Resources Director. The Benefits Manager is responsible for the administration of Xanterra South Rim’s benefit plans and ensures thorough communication to employees regarding same.
Duties & Responsibilities:
- Enroll and maintain records of all eligible employees for the various employee benefits plans. Communicate eligibility, coverage, and claim(s) filing procedures and payment procedures to new enrollees.
- Perform timely and accurate audits of all benefits plans, as required by Xanterra Parks & Resorts policies, corporate directives and legal statutes.
- Manage the annual open enrollment process to include distribution of materials to eligible employees; presenting property meetings regarding plan changes; and entering all changes into the Lawson HRIS.
- Process all approved vacation/sick pay/bereavement leave/birthday and LOA requests as submitted by the Xanterra South Rim departments.
- Provide COBRA information to covered employees who are terminating from Xanterra South Rim.
- Compute payment due for insurance premiums for all terminating, transferring and employees on leave. Follow up on past due insurance payments.
- Provide accurate and consistent answers to policy questions and elevate concerns to HR Director as needed.
- Assist managers and employees with information regarding eligibility for LOAs, including FMLA leave.
- Review LOA requests and approve/deny requests according to company policy, property precedent and applicable state and federal law.
- Assist employees with processing short and long-term disability claim forms.
- Communicate with the corporate benefits offices on issues such as accuracy of audits, enrollments, ERISA compliance, coverage changes, payroll deduction changes and HRIS process changes.
- Manage the property-to-property transfer process and work proactively to resolve issues that arise.
- Assist employees with insurance coverage questions and billing problems as needed.
- Schedule, coordinate and present annual employee service awards banquet and other special events, such as the Lee Denim Day and the Community Health Fair.
- Order, generate and distribute employee service award pins and birthday cards.
- Conduct regular departmental orientation for all new hires and transfers within the HR department.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Desired Qualifications:
- Ability to interact professionally and effectively with employees, benefits management personnel and plan administrators.
- Demonstrated excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Demonstrated proficiency in MS Office, with intermediate Excel skills and experience.
- Lawson HRIS experience desired to include the report writer function.
- Minimum two to five years supervisory or management experience with extensive administrative responsibility.
- Minimum of one-year benefits administration experience including health plans, FMLA, and benefits policy administration.
- Ability to strictly maintain all confidential information.
- Good analytical skills and very detail oriented.
