Averill’s Flathead Lake Lodge is a historic Guest Ranch located in the mountains of Northwest Montana and directly on the shores of Flathead Lake, the largest freshwater lake west of the Mississippi. The Lodge offers the ultimate family vacation with unlimited horse and water recreation. Located only 40 minutes from Glacier National Park, the Lodge is an ideal setting for a summer full of adventure and fun!
Averill’s Flathead Lake Lodge is the ideal location for summer employment. The Lodge is directly on the shores of the beautiful Flathead Lake and surrounded by some of Montana’s most beautiful wilderness areas. In addition, the energetic artisan town of Bigfork is only a mile away offering great shopping, restaurants, live music, and festivals throughout the summer. A perfect setting to work hard and enjoy all that Montana has to offer.

Our Jobs
The Lodge combines a fun Western atmosphere with top rated hospitality. We work as a team to provide the best vacation experience to our guests. Employees are hired for specific positions; however, everyone is expected to help out in all areas as needed. Employees work six days per week and receive a monthly salary plus tips. Nightly events such as barn dance, steak fry, and staff vs. guest volleyball are set up for both guests and staff to enjoy together.
Our seasonal summer positions include:
Dining Room: Our dining room employees are responsible for serving our guests three meals a day in the Main Lodge. Dining room employees must be friendly, positive, and provide a high level of service to our guests.
Kitchen: Our kitchen staff will assist our Executive Chef in preparing meals for our guests. The Lodge takes pride in the quality and creativity of our meals. Kitchen staff must have culinary education and experience.
Wrangler: The barn and horses are a focal point at the Lodge. Wranglers will take guests on horseback through the Lodge’s 2,000-acre wilderness and must be friendly and service oriented. Wranglers are also responsible for the care and management of the barn area and horse herd.
Front Desk: The front desk staff is responsible for overseeing the front desk office. These staff members will attend to all guest inquiries and needs as well as perform daily office duties.
Waterfront: The Waterfront staff is responsible for the Lodge’s waterfront area. Knowledge of sailing, boats, waterskiing, and other water activities is required. We are looking for friendly and hard working staff to interact and assist our guests with various waterfront activities.
Housekeepers: Our housekeepers are responsible for daily cleaning of guest rooms and other areas of the Lodge. The housekeepers are an important part of our team at the Lodge.
Arts & Crafts: We hire one staff for Arts & Crafts each summer. Experience with education, children, and arts & crafts is preferred.
Hiking Guide: We hire one staff as a hiking guide each summer. Experience with hiking, outdoors, and high physical stamina are preferred.

Our Ideal Candidate
All positions require a positive attitude, an excellent work ethic, an outgoing personality, and the physical stamina to work long hours. We are looking for staff members who get along well with others and who are looking for a rewarding summer work experience.
Room and Board
The ranch provides all staff with room & board on property and a nominal fee is deducted for these services monthly.
Perks
The ranch provides staff with room, board, and the freedom to participate and enjoy the on-site ranch activities and recreation on their time off. Employees stay in a nice dorm setting on property sleeping 2-4 people in spacious rooms. Hearty and delicious ranch meals are served for guests and staff in the Main Lodge. All on-site activities are available to staff on their time off including horseback riding, waterskiing, wake boarding, stand up paddle boarding, sailing, fishing, hiking, tennis, and volleyball. In addition, all staff receive a share of the tip pool.

Getting Here and Getting Around
The Lodge is located 30 minutes from Glacier Park International Airport (FCA) in Kalispell, Montana. Shuttle service is available from the airport. The Kalispell airport offers daily flights on the following airlines:
- Delta
- Horizon/Alaska Airlines
- Allegiant Air
- United Airlines
Amtrak is also an easy way to get to the ranch. The Amtrak Station in Whitefish, Montana is only 45 minutes from the Lodge and shuttle service is provided.
Driving to the Lodge is a scenic trip! Located just outside Bigfork, Montana the Lodge is also easily accessible by car.
For Fun
During time off employees enjoy many of the same activities as our guests. Horseback riding, waterskiing, wake boarding, stand up paddle boarding, sailing, fishing, hiking, tennis, and volleyball are all activities available to our staff. Many employees will explore the surrounding area on their time off by visiting Glacier National Park, whitewater rafting, hiking, and spending time in the surrounding towns of Bigfork, Kalispell, and Whitefish.
