Located on the shore of Flathead Lake in northwest Montana, Flathead Lake Lodge is a third-generation family-owned and -operated guest ranch. Encompassing 2,000 acres, the lodge offers all-inclusive family vacations during summer and hosts special groups and destination weddings in the spring and fall. Regardless of the season, guests enjoy unmatched hospitality by the Averill family and staff.

Flathead Lake Lodge provides easy access to the largest natural freshwater lake in the West and the stunning Rocky Mountains. Located only 40 minutes from Glacier National Park, it’s an ideal destination for a summer of adventure, learning new skills and fun in the wilds of Montana. The lively town of Bigfork is only 1 mile away and has great shops, restaurants and live music.

The Employee Experience

A summer spent in Montana at Flathead Lake Lodge is an unforgettable experience. One of the most special things about the lodge is the diverse group of people you will meet while working here. Staff and guests come to our guest ranch from all over the country and over the course of the summer, our employees form genuine friendships with each other and our guests, all while experiencing life at a Montana dude ranch.

All positions require a positive attitude, an excellent work ethic, an outgoing personality, an interest in learning and the physical stamina to work long hours. Ideal candidates should get along well with others, have a passion for people and be interested in providing exceptional service to our guests, all while having a rewarding summer work experience. 

Room and Board

The ranch provides on-site room and board for all employees at a nominal monthly fee, which includes housing and three meals a day. Employee housing is shared with other employees in a dormitory-style setting.

Employee Perks

We encourage all staff to play and dine with our guests, as this is the best way to create authentic and genuine relationships, which is a key focus of what we offer here at Flathead Lake Lodge. Enjoy the same hearty and delicious scratch-made meals prepared for our guests, with snacks and treats available in between. During your downtime, take advantage of on-site activities, including horseback riding, waterskiing, wakeboarding, stand-up paddle boarding, sailing, fishing, hiking, tennis, volleyball and more.

Getting Here and Getting Around

Flathead Lake Lodge is located 30 minutes from Glacier Park International Airport (FCA) in Kalispell, Montana and 45 minutes from the Amtrak Station in Whitefish, Montana. No matter how you get here, we’re happy to pick you up.

Driving a personal car is also a great option. And while it is not necessary to have your own transportation to work at Flathead Lake Lodge, having a personal car will make it easy for you to adventure in Montana’s Flathead Valley as there is no public transportation available.

For Fun

During your time off, employees enjoy many of the same activities as our guests. Many employees choose to explore the surrounding area, including Glacier National Park and the nearby towns of Bigfork, Kalispell and Whitefish. Plus, the valley offers easy access to abundant outdoor recreation in every direction.

Applicants must be at least 18 years of age, a U.S. citizen or hold an unexpired Employment Authorization document for the INS. Our summer season begins in May and runs through mid-October. Please carefully consider the dates of availability on the application, as your indicated dates will be instrumental in our decision-making process. All applicants will be contacted either by email or phone.
