Wrangler: We hire 8 - 10 individuals to lead horse adventures each day,
along with giving riding lessons to riders of varying abilities. Wranglers are encouraged to perfect team roping skills. Roping experience is not required. We are looking for individuals with an equestrian background, and the ability to give riding lessons. Wranglers also do general ranch work such as feeding, bucking bales, painting, fencing, grounds upkeep and many other ranch chores. This job requires individuals with physical stamina and strength, capable of working long days. You must enjoy children as many of the rides are children's rides and the kids spend most of their time at the stables. Many shifts start at 6:00 am with the breakfast ride and end after the last ride of the day, about 9:00 pm. Most of your work will be horse related. In the early and late season you may find yourself helping in the kitchen, housekeeping, on the waterfront, lawn work or other areas on the ranch that need help. Individuals must be able to lift 75 lbs. This position is very rewarding.
Kitchen Staff/Baker: A background in food service or food preparation is preferred. Other duties include a variety of kitchen chores. We hire 5-6 assistant cooks that do prep work and other general kitchen duties.Our executive chef oversees all aspects of the food operation. Additional training in food service or food preparation will be provided.
The baker is responsible for all the fresh baked goods for meals. All breads, desserts and cookies are baked from scratch. We prefer previous baking experience in a commercial facility. This is a very demanding but rewarding position. Everyone loves the baker! The baker usually works from early morning to afternoon. Guests are welcome in our kitchen so it is necessary to be very neat at all times and available for conversation. The kitchen staff's average day begins at 7:00 am. We serve 3 meals, 7 days a week.
Housekeeping: The Ranch employs 5-7 housekeepers. Housekeepers are under the supervision of the head housekeeper who coordinates daily assignments. Housekeeping includes servicing accommodations daily: vacuuming, making beds, cleaning and various other duties including care for the Main Lodge and helping out in the kitchen during the lunch hour. Housekeepers work together, much like motel housekeepers. This is hard work and requires a high standard of achievement to keep the ranch facilities extremely clean.
Dining Room Staff: The Ranch employs 7-9 individuals in the dining room. The work day begins at 7am setting-up for breakfast. Your primary job is the dining room in which you service Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner. Dining room staff duties includes food and beverage service, table preparation, meal set-up and tear down, help with dishes, pots and pans and other miscellaneous jobs. The dining room staff is under the supervision of the dining room manager who will coordinate your daily schedule and times of meal service. We are looking for individuals with an outgoing personality, social skills, strong work ethic and physically competent for a highly visible and demanding job.
Waterfront: We employ 4-5 individuals to work the waterfront.
Boating experience is required and you must be 21 or older. Skills should include boat driving and maintenance, water skiing, windsurfing, sailing and other water sports. You work with expensive and highly specialized boating equipment that requires many hours of continuous care. You are responsible for the necessary water safety required to prevent injury to guests at the ranch. This requires maturity, common sense, obeying ALL water safety rules and long hours on location to see that everything is running smoothly. Some days may find you teaching sailing, windsurfing, pulling skiers or doing various other water activities. A certificate of lifesaving or WSI is preferred. You must have a current CPR and first aid card. The ability to work with and handle children is very important. Along with performing waterfront activities, you may find yourself doing anything from morning dishes to picking up guests at the airport. Because the weather isn't always conducive to waterfront activities, other jobs such as painting, dock and boat maintenance, wood splitting and general grounds upkeep will fill an average day.
Receptionist: We hire 3 individuals to be front desk receptionists/secretaries in the main lodge office. This position requires quality personal presentation and people skills. This job entails computer and phone skills, check-in and check-out, billing, answering guest questions and routine daily correspondence. A secretarial background with skills in typing, computer operation and front desk work is preferred. You must become very familiar with all aspects of the lodge in order to answer questions. Individuals must have a cheery personality, be able to deal with people and different situations. Strong organizational skills are preferred.
Arts & Crafts: The arts & crafts person is in charge of a daily structured program for young children. We prefer an individual with a strong background in early childhood development or elementary education. A love of children and the patience to deal with them on a very personal basis is required. This job requires artistic skills and the ability to create different crafts each day. We like individuals involved in this program to add their own personal touches to make this a very special time for all the children involved. At times the arts and crafts program doesn't run the entire work day; in those instances you maybe offering assistance to other areas such as housekeeping, dining room or front desk. There are many different areas that need assistance and you will be called upon when the need arises.
Fishing Guide: We employ 1-3 fishing guides.
The endorsing outfitter will supervise the fishing guides. Guides are required to have First Aid and CPR cards, as well as comply with Montana Board of Outfitter rules and regulations, Montana Fish Wildlife and Parks and have a current Montana State Fishing and Conservation License for either in-state or out of state residents. Guides must have a good knowledge of fish species in Northwest Montana, catch and release fishing, fishing techniques and rowing a raft safely on a river. We're looking for individuals with outgoing personalities, strong work ethic and physical strength and stamina.
General Ranch Hands: We employ 2-4 ranch hands. Ranch Hand duties will include weed eating, general lawn care, watering flower beds and lawns, painting, staining, hauling and picking up supply orders and putting them away. Ranch Hands will be asked to help in other areas such as kitchen, barn, waterfront, and maintenance. Duties could include; dish washing, saddling horses, helping guests with luggage, airport runs and cabin maintenance. We're looking for individuals with good maintenance skills who have physical strength and stamina and have the ability to interact positively with the public on a daily basis.
