Echo Canyon River Expeditions

Colorado White Water Rafting - Guide Jobs -- Trainee Program Available

Echo Canyon is now accepting applications for our 2013 raft guide training program. Although we do accept applications from experienced guides, no rafting or guiding experience is necessary to train and to become a full time guide with us. We’ve been training top notch guides since 1978, and we welcome you to explore the opportunities available at Echo Canyon.

We are committed to safety, conservation and providing a fun working environment that will provide you with skills you can utilize long after your employment with us. We place an emphasis on guiding skills as well as general knowledge of the Arkansas River including local history, geology, plants and animals.Rafting with Echo Canyon River Expeditions

Your training at Echo Canyon will be comprehensive to say the least. We exceed the state minimum requirements by quite a stretch, and we train more extensively than any other raft company in the state of Colorado. This extensive training lasts four to five weeks. Our training is a physically and mentally demanding program which will require an unfaltering commitment from you.

Camping is available at no charge while you are training with Echo Canyon. Once hired as a full time member of the staff, you are welcome to camp at our on-site employee camping area at a cost of $325 per summer, plus a $50 camp deposit. Some staff members prefer to rent rooms or apartments in Canon City, about 8 miles away. For those living on-site you will have access to bathrooms with showers. We have an on-site restaurant for meals, or you can stock up on food in town. Most guides who camp keep a cooler with ice for perishables; food is not provided during training or employment.

For Fun

Echo Canyon River Expeditions is centrally located in one of the most beautiful regions of Colorado. We're only a 2-hour drive from Denver, and an hour away from Colorado Springs, Manitou Springs, Salida, Pueblo and Pikes Peak. There's so much to see and do, and as an employee you'll have opportunities that others only dream about.

Rafting with Echo Canyon River Expeditions

Playing on the River of course tops the list, but when you need a break, ride the Royal Gorge Route Railroad or visit the world famous Royal Gorge Bridge both of which are just a few miles from our location. There's also mountain biking, climbing, hiking and camping opportunities in the Royal Gorge region. This area also offers unique shopping, excellent dining and cultural opportunities.

How to Apply

Apply Now

Our goal is to find outstanding individuals and train them to become outstanding guides.

All prospective guides need to remember that an invitation to join the training program does not necessarily guarantee employment. The hiring of trainees from the training class will be based on training performance and growth, ability to perform essential job skills, work ethic, and ability to work in a team setting.

In addition to offering the Trainee program, we also hire Experienced Guides and Office Reservationists. See our web site for details about applying.

Please carefully review our application procedure by following the Apply Now link.
