Employee Testimonials

The following are shared quotes from some of our previous staff, some of whom found out about Deer Valley through Cool Works.

Friends on a summit“My priorities in life are Faith, Family and Friends.  At Deer Valley Ranch, I was immersed with each one of these important aspects of my life.  My relationship with God was strengthened by the people I met, the work I did and the beautiful country I was in.  One thing that surprised me…was how much the owners and year round staff genuinely cared about the summer staff which…was reflected in their great faith in Christ Himself.  I am all about adventure...and on my days off I…climbed many 14ers, mountain biked, checked out the Maroon Bells in Aspen and…went on some amazing horseback rides.  When my friends back home apathetically told me about their summer jobs, I couldn’t help but smile as I recalled my amazing memories from Deer Valley Ranch.” -Brady (Indiana)

“Working at Deer Valley is one of the most amazing and stretching experiences a person could have. The work is long, but good and the people are wonderful and genuinely care about you. I came to call DVR my home and the people there my family. The most amazing thing that God taught me while I was there was how to love others, and that is still affecting my life when I am away from the ranch.” --Maria ( Maine )

“My summer at Deer Valley was the first time I had ever lived and worked in a Christian environment. The summer was really about getting to know people who eventually became family to me. Working in the kitchen with Sue was by far the best blessing. For once I was able to see what real community looked like and catch a glimpse of what heaven will one day be like: A place where people continually building one another up with encouragement out of a greater love for God.” -Katie (Connecticut)

“Working at Deer Valley Ranch was the experience of a lifetime for me. After arriving in Colorado , it waskristin only a matter of time before DVR became my ‘home away from home’. If you are considering working at Deer Valley , I can tell you this: The work is hard but the friends and memories you will make, along with a growing relationship with God, are worth every bit of it.” -Kristin ( Arkansas )

“Deer Valley was an amazing summer opportunity. It offered me a great way to get out of my familiar Midwest context and participate in a Christian organization while having a lot of fun! As a wrangler, I worked my tail off but the opportunity to ride every day, develop relationships with the guests and grow to love the guys I worked with were amazing. In addition, being able to hike 14,000 foot mountains, raft and visit cities like Denver, Cheyenne and Aspen on my days off were great. I would definitely recommend this experience for anyone who loves the outdoors and memorable summer experiences.” -Eric (Michigan)

Cowboys and Horses“When I began looking for a summer job, I had no idea that God would lead me to such an amazing and special place. It turned out to be more than just a job. The staff becomes like family, the guests are extraordinary and you are smack-dab in the middle of some of the most beautiful country ever created! As one (Deer Valley) guest said, “This place is a microcosm of heaven.” I’ve had some remarkable summers, but this was without a doubt the best!” -Erika (Indiana)
