Xanterra, is the concessionaire for Crater Lake National Park, this means we operate all of the guest services here in the park which includes, a historic lodge, cabins, campgrounds, two restaurants, a café, and boat tours on Crater Lake. To run all of these portions of our operations we employ around 200 people each summer season. The bulk of our season runs the beginning of May until the end of October.
At Crater Lake we not only allow you to work in a beautiful area, but, we also offer you the opportunity to save money, meet and work with people from not only just around the country but also around the world, and give you the opportunity to have the great outdoors in your backyard.
The lake was created over 7,000 years ago by a volcanic explosion of Mt. Mazama, the park itself was not established until 1902.

Room and Board
Here at Crater Lake we offer dormitory housing for a mere $8.50 per day per person, which gets paid via paycheck deduction. Employees residing in our housing typically share a room with 2-3 roommates and have their own single bed and wardrobe style closet.
The housing is set up to be community style living including shared recreational areas, television areas, community bathrooms, community showers, community kitchens, and shared computer areas.
The other perks to community living is being able to avoid some of the bills you have in a normal apartment setting, such as you get free wi-fi, and water.
Please know that couples housing is very limited and cannot be guaranteed.
We also offer RV sites here, for those of you that should choose to do this option for a weekly deduction of $35 per RV. This includes your electric, water, the site, and an area to dump your waste in.
At Crater Lake for employee’s we offer buffet style dining offering hot and cold breakfast options and for lunch and dinner we offer hot options and a salad bar. Because this is buffet style we are unable to accommodate special dietary restrictions, and our vegetarian options are limited.
However if you enjoy preparing your own meals, you can do so in our housing in the shared kitchen areas.
- We have over 90 miles of trails most of which can be done in one day, and the PCT trail runs right through the park.
- There is a discount in our retail and some food and beverage areas that is just for employees.
- The employees get to experience the lake and all it has to offer daily.
- We have one of the HIGHEST minimum wage rates in the country.
Getting Here and Getting Around
On the arrival date we can pick employees up in either Klamath Falls or Medford. Once you are here, having your own vehicle allows you more freedom, however the recreation group does a few trips per week to do activities in the area, or just to go shopping. Getting back and forth to work may be as easy as a short 5-10 minute walk, or you also could ride our employee shuttle that runs from 6:30 am-11 pm.
Living at Crater Lake gives you free access to some of the best hiking, biking, camping, photography, wildlife viewing, bird watching in the world! While the average visitor only has a few hours or days to spend in a national park, you have several months. Take full advantage of this amazing opportunity! We also offer an employee recreational program with trips to various surrounding areas, parties, sports activities, and special events.
