Camp Laurel South is among the most prestigious, well-respected camps in the country. We offer quality instruction designed to allow children to participate in activities they love, while also allowing them to explore new and exciting opportunities.

Camp Laurel South is located near Portland, Maine in the heart of the Sebago Lakes Region. Its 150 unspoiled acres include woodlands, sports fields and open lawns. The Camp's 2500 feet of private shoreline along sparkling Crescent Lake features a magnificent natural sandy beach and access to more than 3 miles of exceptionally clear waters.

At Laurel South, we pride ourselves on our professional, family atmosphere, our top instruction and the lifelong friendships made each summer. Our staff is made up of collegians and professionals who have a desire to make a difference in a child’s life. Activity areas include Land Sports, Water Front Activities, Fine Arts, Theatre, Adventure, Riding and more. Laurel South boasts top-notch facilities consisting of a beautiful waterfront with multiple beaches, a full-size theater, baseball fields, basketball centers, arts and crafts studios including photography, ceramics, ropes course with climbing wall, stables and riding rings, tennis courts, culinary center and more. 

Competitive counselor salary starts at $3,000 for college freshmen and goes up from there.

Ideal Candidate

We are seeking college students and teachers to lead and instruct a wide variety of activities. Our staff are caring and fun individuals who have a desire to make a difference in a child’s life. 

Room and Board

The majority of our staff live with children in cabins, however we have a variety of staff who are placed in support and overseeing positions in which they do not. The cabins are very comfortable for our staff and campers, and all have electricity. Some cabins have bathrooms and showers in them while others have bath houses just steps away from the cabin. Most cabins house 10 campers and three to four counselors. 

Employee Perks

All staff will have six days off during the summer. We want you to be happy and enthusiastic about your work and recognize that time off for a little rest and recreation helps maintain that spirit. Some camp facilities are open to off-duty staff. You can enjoy tennis, basketball, swimming, stand up paddle-boarding and many other activities or simply relax in our staff lounge with Cable TV, streaming services, snack bar, ping pong, next-gen consoles and more.

Getting Here and Getting Around

You are more than welcome to drive to camp where we have a parking lot available for staff to park their vehicles over the summer. We also provide initial transportation to get you to camp if you decide to fly. We ask that you fly into Portland Maine, and a staff member will pick you up on your scheduled arrival date. 

For Fun

When a staff member has scheduled time off during the day they are are free to relax with friends, enjoy beautiful Crescent Lake, or play recreational games such as soccer, volleyball, and more! In the evenings, our staff are encouraged to socialize with friends in our staff lounge areas as well as catch up on any missed phone calls, emails, etc. On days off, there is so much to explore around the state of Maine and we want you to do just that! Check out new cities, go on beautiful hikes, and take in all that Maine and the northeast has to offer!
