Camp Echo Lake - A Full Season Summer Camp for Children
Camp Echo Lake is located in Warrensburg, New York in the heart of the Adirondack Mountains. 10 minutes north of Lake George, NY; 1 hour north of Albany, NY; 3.5 hours north of NYC; 2.5 hours south of Montreal, Canada; 1 hour from Lake Placid, NY. Camp is situated on 135 acres of pine forest with a 35-acre spring fed lake and is surrounded by the beautiful Adirondack Mountains.
Echo Lake is committed to empowering children. At Echo Lake, the core values that children learn at home are reinforced. In this unique community living experience, children develop a heightened sense of cooperation, teamwork, and fairness. As they acquire a greater appreciation and understanding of themselves during their stay at Camp Echo Lake, children build confidence and self-esteem. Their Echo Lake experience empowers them to reach full potential and to find their own “place in the sun.”
Echo Lake staff comes from a wide range of life experiences and demographics, but all have the desire to work with children at camp! Echo Lake typically hires around 220 staff to work with our 475, 7 to 16 year old, male and female campers. Our staff comes to camp from across the United States and all around the world. Last years staff came from 34 different states in the USA and 13 different countries around the world, including Canada, the United Kingdom, Australia, New Zealand, and many more! Our staff love being part of our camp family and can’t get enough of Echo Lake, in fact each year about 40-50% of our staff are returning to camp from the previous summer. In addition to our staff veterans, every year we look forward to finding the many amazing new staff that comes to camp bringing fresh energy, perspective, and ideas! While our staff must have at least completed a year of college (or be the equivalent age), our mature staff (with an average age of 22) are made up of college and graduate students, teachers, and other childcare and athletic professionals. All of our staff have an impact of the lives of children and have their own lives influences by the campers, staff, and the camp experience.
Of our 220 staff, we hire three types of staff at Echo Lake: Cabin Specialists/Group Leaders; Activity Specialists/Head Specialists; and Support Staff. All of our staff are crucial to the success of camp whether you are being a role model for the campers, teaching them an activity skill, or making sure we are fed, healthy, and cared for. All of our staff work the same number of hours and get the same time off, as every staff person is a valuable member of our camp community.
