Bluefin Bay Family of Resorts in Tofte, MN is seeking full-time, seasonal kayak instructors. Located along the beautiful yet rugged north shore of Lake Superior, Bluefin Bay is a first-class, year-round destination resort. Many of our guests come from the Minneapolis area, but we also get guests from other states, from Canada, and even from other continents! 

Our main goal at Bluefin Bay is to create memorable experiences for our guests. Because of this, we put a lot of energy and resources into our activities department. During the summer months (June, July, and August), our most popular guest activity is guided kayaking on Lake Superior. Lake Superior is the largest fresh water lake in the world by surface area and is often regarded as the cleanest and clearest as well. Even at depths of over 20 feet, the rocks on the bottom of the lake are perfectly visible while paddling. This job is a perfect opportunity for someone who not only loves sea kayaking but also loves meeting new people every day. Last season we took over 1,200 guests on our guided kayak tours in an 11 week season; this season we plan on taking out even more! Most of our guests are beginner kayakers but are very eager to learn. We provide our guests as well as our guides with new, high-quality kayaks and equipment.  Our guides normally work 40 hours a week. Wage is competitive plus our guides are usually generously tipped by our guests. 

Housing is provided within 1/4 of a mile of the resort. Seasonal summer employees receive discounted rent ($240 per month which includes utilities). Employees also have access to resort discounts. The surrounding area is home to some of the most beautiful hiking (Superior Hiking Trail) and biking trails in the Midwest. We are also only a short drive from the Boundary Waters Canoe Area Wilderness (BWCAW). Only 9% of Cook County, MN is privately owned land, the rest is made up of the Superior National Forest, numerous state parks, and the BWCAW. It’s paradise for people who love the outdoors! In the summer, we also employee 20-25 international J-1 students who come over during their college summer vacations to work. This provides our domestic employees an excellent opportunity to meet some amazing people from around the world!
