On this page you'll find links to pages and articles we think are handy, interesting, funny, wierd and oh-so useful. These could include: cool travel destinations, ski, bike, paddle techniques, gear reviews, stories from the road, or we may post things that seem competely off topic that we just like. If you have any ideas or anything to contribute, drop us an email at: feedback@coolworks.com.

Why Alaska?

posted by Bill @ 8:43 AM

The people are speaking - see what they have to say about
living and working in Alaska.

"Oh but ain’t that Alaska for you and me

Ain’t that Alaska it's something to see baby

Ain’t that Alaska, home of the free

Little log cabins for you and me!

Land of freedom, live and let live, singing with the dogs under the northern
lights, blueberry and cranberry picking, running dogs under the moonlight,
crystal clear clean starry winter nights, good fishing. cold nights sitting
by the woodstove, reading by propane light."

posted by Bill @ 3:05 PM
Mountain folk fared better in a study that compared those living at sea level to those living up higher. More than 1,000 people were monitored for 15 years, half of them at sea level and half in the mountains. It appears that living high above sea level may have a preventative effect on heart disease.
