The Bar W Guest Ranch is located in beautiful Whitefish, Montana. The Bar W is a small ranch with a staff of 20 and up to 30 guests per week. Our program is centered around horseback riding, with a very strong emphasis on service to our guests.

At The Bar W we believe that a well run dude ranch is hospitality at its very finest. Our number one goal is to provide our guests with the best possible vacation experience. Our staff is our number one resource to help achieve this goal. Each year we hire for both seasonal and year round positions.

Working on a dude ranch is not like any other job. The work is hard and the hours are long. But this is the one job that will become part of you for the rest of your life. You will make life long friendships with both staff and guests, as well as learn skills and a work ethic that will stay with you wherever you go.

Maintenance - currently seeking applicants!
Description: Perform a wide range of services from general maintenance to extensive projects. Maintenance work of facilities, grounds, and equipment utilizing skills such as electrical, carpentry, plumbing, and welding. Job Responsibilities - Ability to use efficiently various power and hand tools. - Ability to operate a tractor. - Ability to adapt to a wide variety of tasks - Problem solving - Should follow oral or written instructions. - Ability to establish and maintain effective and cooperative working relationships. Requirements: - Valid driver’s license - Repeatedly lift 75 pounds by yourself

Sales & Reservations - currently seeking applications!
Description: In the role of Sales and Reservations, the first responsibility is to ensure that ranch’s image and reputation is established and maintained as an informal, high quality, professional, customer focused facility as seen through the eyes of the guests, the town of Whitefish, Flathead County and nationally. This is to be accomplished through providing focused, consistent, and high quality customer service and outreach in a professional stature at all times. Responsibilities include but are not limited to the administration, organization, and coordination of all office systems and databases as they relate to sales. Working with the Ranch Manager on organizational activities and specialized events, communicating with and booking guests and coordinating their activities with local area outfitters and businesses, assisting with the marketing, ensuring complete customer satisfaction and assist in projects and assignments that will foster continued growth of all ranch endeavors. The Bar W uses a team approach to everything that we do. The sales and reservations position is part of this team. That means helping with all of the office administrative tasks as well as being at all dinners and helping with clean up after meals in the kitchen or play meadow, doing housekeeping if necessary, running errands, attending local events, taking guests to local events, etc.

Our Ideal Candidate

Regardless of the position you are hired for, we are looking for people who are willing to help wherever needed. This is a people oriented business, and we are looking for staff with excellent communication skills and outgoing personalities. It is also important that everyone be a team player. Whenever you are around the guests you will need to present a neat and clean appearance.

Room and Board

Room and board is available on site. Most staff accommodations are dormitory structured with seperate quarters for men and women. Each bunkhouse can sleep up to 6 men or women. We have very limited couples housing available. For select positions Management housing is also available outside of the dorms.

It's preferable if employees live on site but it is possible to live in Whitefish if requested with management.

On site laundry facilities are available for no charge.

Perks

A 10% service charge is given to employees who fulfill their agreement. 20% discount is extended to the employees friends and family for staying at the ranch as well as in our gift shop. Select Western stores in the area offer a discount to Bar W employees.

Getting Here and Getting Around

Glacier International Airport (airport code FCA) is located in Kalispell, MT and is just 25 minutes from the ranch. The train station is located in downtown Whitefish and is just 4 miles from the ranch. Having a car is helpful but not necessary.

For Fun

Staff are encouraged to enjoy the ranch during their time and days off, but please remember that our guests come first. Here in Northwestern Montana, the recreational possibilities are endless, with riding, hiking, fishing, and Glacier National Park just a short drive away.
