  • Sled Dog Handler

    Juneau and Skagway
    $2,400.00 - $3,500.00 / month + tips

    We are looking for energetic and hardworking folks to join our team for the Summer! 

    We offer helicopter dogsledding tours on the Denver Glacier in Skagway and the Mendenhall, Herbert and Norris Glaciers in Juneau, Alaska.

    Duties:

    • Sled Dog Handlers will maintain guest safety and assist Mushers getting in and out of dog yards with sled dog teams.  
    • Each Sled Dog Handler is responsible for assisting Mushers in conducting safe tours.
    • Sled Dog Handlers feed, water, clean and inspect dogs daily for general health and fitness.  
    • Sled Dog Handlers will work throughout the camp and dog yards to meet the needs of the day.
    • Unloading/loading guests and supplies from the helicopter
    • Photographing action shots of guests on sleds
    • You may be assigned different duties on any given day at the Camp Manager’s discretion.
    • Cuddle puppies!!

    No experience is necessary.  

    • Must be able to legally work in the U.S.
    • Valid CPR and First Aid 
    • Must be able to lift 50lbs. 
    • Consumable recovery fee of $120/month
    • End of Season Bonus
    • Season from the beginning of May to September 
  • Photographer/Tour Attendant

    Skagway and Juneau
    $2,400.00 - $3,500.00 / month + tips

    We are looking for energetic and hardworking folks to join our team for the Summer! 

    We offer helicopter dogsledding tours on the Denver Glacier in Skagway and the Mendenhall, Herbert and Norris Glaciers in Juneau, Alaska.

    Duties: 

    • Unloading/loading guests and supplies from the helicopter
    • Escort guests to dog yards and introduce to the Musher
    • Photographing action shots of guests on sleds
    • Photo sales and accounting
    • Sled Dog Handler duties as assigned
    • Assists in the kitchen as needed
    • Cuddle puppies!!

    Housing and meals while on the glacier provided

    Consumable recovery fee of $120/month

    Requirements:

    • Must be able to legally work in the U.S.
    • Valid CPR and First Aid 
    • Must be able to lift 50lbs. 
    • Must be able to pass a drug test (including marijuana)
    • Must have excellent customer service skills

    End of Season Bonus

    Season from the end of April to the beginning of September 

    Photography experience preferred

  • Veterinary Technician

    Juneau
    $3,800.00 - $4,300.00 / month

    Come join our team for the summer!

    Duties:

    • Veterinary Technician will maintain inventory in all camps and vet locations Including ordering and stocking needed Veterinary supplies.

    • Vet Techs will go to glacier camp as well as visit AIE's sister company Gold Rush Dog Tours on a regular basis.  Weekly assignment as weather allows.  They will visit each dog yard and provide comments and communication to the Camp Manager/ Management/ and Company Veterinarian for each visit.

      • Communications include health and wellbeing of the individual dogs specifically along with their treatment plans and who is assigned the care . They will also comment on precautions in place for females in heat, dog houses, level yards, any dogs with a low BCS. Photos will be included in all reports.

    • The Veterinary Technician will evaluate and address any concerns brought to their attention by the Camp Manager.

      • Musher(s) will report each issue or concern to the Camp Manager and if said concern is deemed necessary for consultation, the Veterinary Technician will then be called upon to make further evaluation and obtain treatment plan in conjunction with the company vet.  They will communicate the plan verbally and in writing to camp. 

    • Veterinary Technician will then assist with properly diagnosing the issue of said dog(s) and give further evaluation to each situation. 

      • Veterinary Techn evaluation will result in either in house treatment at camp, given by responsible musher, or potentially seeking Veterinary medicine in town.

      • Vet Tech will inspect dogs on a regular basis, and no less than weekly, for BCS, injury, illness

      • Vet Tech will work closely with company vet to determine treatment plans

      • Will Maintain "Dogs First" Logs for dogs with injury, illness, puppies.

      • Will provide daily emails to management and to company vet

      • Will travel with dogs if care not available locally is required

      • Will treat/ walk/ supervise dog care of all dogs not being cared for in the dog yards.

      • Will exercise their full and complete knowledge to ensure the best care is provided.

    The final say on a dog's treatment plan is that of the Company Vet.  All instructions will be followed explicitly.

    Requirements:

    • Room provided as well as meals while in camp. 
    • End of Season Bonus
    • CPR and First Aid required
    • Must be able to lift 50 lbs on a regular basis
    • Pass random drug testing (including Marijuana)
    • Preferred third year Vet Tech from an accredited program
