  • Front Desk - General Store

    Edison Lake - Sierra National Forest
    $16.00 / hour + tips

    Experienced, seasoned individual to handle multiple Front Desk and General Store chores at our main desk/counter. This position requires that you are first and foremost an Ambassador for the property. We welcome our guests whether they hike in or drive in and get them started on what the next steps are after they arrive.This is a position for someone who thrives on multitasking and loves personal interactions. 

    The ability to diagnose problems, prioritize and handle critical pressure situations is required. This is an active front-line position. You will handle cash, credit cards and guest tabs. We require all our staff to have excellent customer service skills, a nice appearance coupled with a positive attitude and packaged with a lot of fun energy. The individual(s) chosen for this key position are drug- free, non-smokers and will report directly to the manager or owners. Our ultimate goal is to provide every guest a quality stay. Many of our guests are regulars and VVR is not your typical touristy type setting; which makes it a more fun and lively setting.

    Pay is $16.00 per hour plus your Crew Share weekly and monthly tips. 

  • Tent Cabin/Shower Building Upkeep

    Housekeeping/Grounds
    Edison Lake - Sierra National Forest
    $14.00 / hour + tips

    Self-starting, inter-active individual that is able to work closely with our primary housekeepers for our small but busy back-country lodge. This position begins late May and will go into Sept/Oct. You will be assigned to maintaining the Tent Cabin area as well as the hiker shower building and laundry; this position could include shuttling hikers by vehicle to various trailheads around the area, so, valid drivers license, ability to drive a manual transmission and age over 25 required. While taking ownership of those responsibilities you must be able to work independently of supervision, and maintain your area. You will report to the on-duty store manager. Our employees take pride in their positions which requires a good can-do and collaborative work attitude.

    This position is responsible for: 4 - tent cabins, hiker hostel tent, and shower/restroom building.

    Bonus: Tips collected throughout the resort/restaurant are shared by all employees. (Crew-share typically $500.00 plus per month)

  • Outside Grounds and Light Maintenance

    Grounds/Maintenance
    $14.00 / hour + tips

    We need an experienced individual to handle multiple maintenance chores in and around our facility and grounds. You will be part of a 4-person team.

    This position has a varying amount of tasks; they could include watercraft rentals, grounds upkeep, minor plumbing, painting and building projects, daily trash collection, running the wood splitter etc. This is an active and physical position, you must be able to thrive at 7700’ in elevation and the maintenance position will work into mid October. You will be asked to engage with our hikers and regular guests so, we look for excellent customer service skills, a positive attitude and good energy.

    The Vermilion Valley Resort functions completely off the grid. We have two large diesel generators that furnish our electricity, water is pumped from our well and sewage is handled by multiple septic systems. So, the ability to take direction from senior staff, assist in diagnosing problems, prioritize and handle critical pressure situations should be part of your work personality. Any background in construction, plumbing, electrical and or a mechanical aptitude is a plus.

    Pay Scale is negotiable depending on experience.

    Bonus: Tips gathered from all Departments including restaurant are shared equally among all employees. (Crew-Share)

  • Prep Cook/Apprentice

    $13.50 / hour + tips

    Line Cook position: We are looking for anyone with at least 1 year cooking experience to apply. Whether you are pantry, fry, sautee or breakfast you will leave with solid experience in all aspects of a breakfast, lunch and dinner operation. Given that we are in such a remote area, we give preference to individuals with specific thru hiking/off the gird experience. If you have experience working a line and are looking to come out to a beautiful place to enjoy with the rest of us for the summer... Please feel free to reach out! We look forward to speaking with you! Ideal candidates will have working knowledge of all line positions, broil, fry, pantry, as well as egg skills. Ability to cook and plate 50 to 60 covers per shift.

    Bonus: You will participate in the Crew Share Tip program. All tips gathered through-out resort are pooled and shared with the crew. (Typically $500.00 or more a month)

  • Dinner Wait-Staff/Kitchen Help

    Edison Lake - Sierra National Forest
    $13.50 / hour + tips

    Our scenic back-country and rustic restaurant features a full service menu offering creative daily specials, hand-cut steaks, fresh out of the valley veggies, and a large selection of CA micro-brews. The VVR is a top layover spot for PCT/JMT thru-hikers which requires our staff to have excellent customer service skills, a positive helpful attitude and an enthusiastic approach toward cooking and serving.

    We need an experienced and mature wait staff person to handle 5 dinner shifts this summer to feed all our hungry hikers and guests. Hearty, fresh home-style food is what we serve. Our meat and vegetables are sourced locally and we give creative license to our cooks. We are known up and down the trail for our good grub, great micro-brew and wine selection, fresh baked pies, our Saturday night BBQs, and hearty breakfasts. We are a close- knit staff and have a lot of fun, but we work hard during the season. If you are into an off-the-grid challenge we may be a good fit. Work weeks are 40 hours and you take two days off a week.

    Qualifications desired: This position begins early June and will go into Sept/Oct. You must be able to work as the sole wait staff on duty and handle 50 - 60 customers comfortably.  Dinner Menu, is set (4-6 choices) with a nightly special. Our cooks work closely with the wait-staff to keep the cafe clean, stocked and orderly. You will also be responsible for maintaining the restaurant during your shift, as well as assisting the cook with food preparation (slicing-chopping fruits and vegetables, preparing salads, gathering ingredients, etc).  The right person is flexible, with a can do attitude. We are looking for a take charge leader.

    Note, we do provide transportation from Fresno to the lodge for those employees who arrive by public transportation. For the right person we will also assist in their transportation costs.

  • Housekeeping Team

    Competent, mature, self-starting housekeeping couple or individuals that are able to work closely together are wanted for our small but busy back-country lodge.

    Housekeeping is a key component to a visitor’s positive experience and we put great emphasis on clean and well organized rooms and tent cabins. Our rustic lodge sits well into the high country and it is fun to surprise our guests with tidy facilities and great food.

    Our housekeeping team shares and is responsible for: 4 - motel rooms, 2 - RV trailers, and 3 - cabins.

    Qualifications desired: This position begins in late May and will go into Sept/Oct. You will be assigned building or lodging assignments which become your responsibility, while taking ownership of those responsibilities you must be able to work independently of supervision, and maintain your area. You will report to the on-duty store manager. Our employees take pride in their positions which requires a good can-do and collaborative work attitude.
