Must be good with money handling procedures, phone skills and general administrative work for the day to day operations of the business. They run reports and check banks for sales staff, answer phones and help process online orders. This is an indoor work environment, but there may be chances to work on the trail too.
Bike Mechanics do not need professional experience but 3 years of home bike mechanic experience is preferred. Our mechanics are responsible for the maintenance and repair of the bike fleet. Training can be provided. Staff are expected to be able to lift bikes and work on their feet. This is one of our indoor positions but does sometimes require product and repair testing before bikes re-join the fleet.

Like problem solving and are quick to think on your feet, this fast paced department is responsible for our large bike rental fleet. Staff are responsible for fitting rented bikes to guest, informing guests of proper equipment usage, loading and unloading bikes from vehicles, washing bikes and inspecting bikes for repair. This position requires the ability to lift 50 lbs, work outdoors on your feet, solve problems and communicate with guests. These staff members work out of our main base area off Exit 0 on I-90 on the Idaho/Montana State line.
The building maintenance technician is responsible for the maintenance and repair of buidings and grounds at lookout pass. Must be comfortable working on ladders and out of aerial equipment when accessing roofs and upper level exteriors. Experience with operating an airless paint sprayer is required, minor plumbing and electrical experience is desired. The building maintenance technicians should be able to identify areas that require repair or re-painting and be motivated to remedy any problems found quickly and efficiently. Most work will be outdoors and tools are provided. Must be drug free. 3 years experience is preferred. Full time, flexible schedule.
This position is for a “Jack of all Fixes” with a well-rounded skill set for maintenance. The ideal tech is skilled in carpentry, painting, is comfortable operating small machinery and enjoys variation in work. They should be able to assist in daily vehicle checks, oil changes, and cleaning. This person should be willing to learn new skills, work independently on projects.

Bus Drivers make up a crucial part to our team as they help guest go uphill form Pearson to Roland. Drivers will need to be able to lift and load up to 50 lbs, have strong communication and team work skills. Drivers must have a CDL with a passenger endorsement to work as a bus driver and feel comfortable driving on unpaved roads.
The vehicle wash tech will ensure that all trucks and busses used in daily operations for the route of the Hiawatha bike trail are clean and free of trash. Operate a pressure washer to remove dust and dirt both inside and out of busses, wash windows, vacuum and wipe down interiors of trucks. Work independently, daily work hours will be outside the operating hours of the ROTH bike trail. Expected to wash 8 or more vehicles daily.
Execute brand storytelling and business driving messaging across all social channels using their love of social media and the latest insights and trends in the social space. Must be an enthusiastic and avid social media user with a vast understanding of social media platforms (Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, Snapchat, Pinterest, etc.), proven ability to manage a social community, and a willingness to appear on camera for various photo and video projects. Experience with creating photo and video content and experience and knowledge of design programs (PhotoShop, InDesign, Illustrator, etc.) is a plus.
Conjointly this position will promote sales of all products. As Corporates Sales and Events this role will be to create relationships with area businesses to expand group sales, corporate ticket and pass programs and organize and promote on events. On mountain events consist of organizing private events and working with other department to organize and promote events/promotional days/contests/etc to the public audience in line with our small ski area and family mountain brand.
In the summer this position would support Route of the Hiawatha Scenic Bike Trail and Lookout Pass Ski Area in the winter.

Drivers work across all departments as they shuttle bikes, equipment and other necessities from the main base on the Idaho/Montana border to the Trail Head at East Portal, MT. This position is fast paced, dynamic, requires a Drivers License, the ability to multi task, follow directions and lift up to 50lbs. Drivers need to be self-motivated and be able to work independently.
Responsible and guest service oriented staff who assist customers at our Main Base Lodge at Exit 0 on the Idaho/Montana Border. Responsibilities include organizing inventory, stocking shelves and helping guests. Staff members must have strong communication skills.
This position is based out of our main base area lodge at Exit 0 on the MT/ID border. Food Court staff make hot and cold food items for guests to enjoy on the trail. They may also help in our retail department, work as cashiers, and may be asked to work in concessions at the East Portal or Pearson Trail Heads. Cooks are required to on they feet for most of the day and lift up to 25 lbs.
The mechanic assistant is responsible for assisting the vehicle maintenance technicians as well as ensuring the equipment is clean and ready to be used prior to it leaving the base area. Requires traveling (in company vehicles) to pick up parts and supplies at local stores and driving to the route of the Hiawatha bike trail to check condition of busses and asset with breakdown repairs. Candidate should have a mechanical background. Experience operating skid steer loader or similar equipment is desired. Must be drug free, with a good driving record. Full time, flexible schedule.
Photographers take photos of guests enjoying their ride along the trail. They are outside from mid morning to mid afternoon. They will edit photos and upload them onto the sales platform. Cameras will be provided, but editing and photography skills are a must. Photographers are expected to bike sections of the trail.
We are looking for an assistant conductor to keep the bikes rolling thru the rental department. This position requires many hats; this person needs to be guest service oriented, organized and a strong leader. The rental shop assistant supervisor is responsible for assisting guests, solving problems and keeping the bikes ready to roll at all times. In this dynamic position, job duties include fitting rented bikes to guest, informing guests of proper equipment usage, loading and unloading bikes from vehicles, washing bikes and inspecting bikes for repair. Candidates should have 1 year of previous work experience in outdoor recreation or guest services. This position could become a full time, duel seasonal position with our winter ski/board rental shop. This position requires the ability to lift 50 lbs. and work outdoors on your feet, solve problems and communicate with guests. These staff members work out of our main base area off Exit 0 on I-90 on the Idaho/Montana State line.
Do you have good communication and organization skills? The Reservations department is essential to our daily operations as they are at the front line of communication with guests via phone and email. This department is responsible for organizing the reservations for each day in advance to allow all other departments time to plan and organize. This is another position based out of our main base lodge at Exit 0 on the MT/ID border.
Shuttle drivers are expected to have good communication skills with fellow drivers as good communication is a must on the trail. Drivers must be comfortable driving on single lane dirt roads, driving long trucks, vans, and pulling a cargo trailer . Drivers are expected to be able to load and unload bikes and other equipment up to 50 lbs. Shuttle Drivers work in tandem with Bus Drivers.
This job is one of the few positions where staff work primarily indoors. Agents will great guests at out Main Lodge at Exit 0 on I-90 (right on the state border of MT/ID). They will be expected to check in guests, sell tickets, and answer questions about the trail as well as provide clear directions to the trail head. Strong communication skills are a must in this department. These staff members may be asked to work in our concessions at the East Portal or Pearson trail heads.
Trail Maintenance staff help keep the trail safe for visitors. They are the first one on the trail each day (around 7am) tasked with cleaning restrooms, clearing the trail of debris, filling potholes, fueling buses, checking tickets, selling tickets, loading and unloading bikes, helping with crowd control at trail heads and seasonal projects like painting. Training will be provided but these members of our team are expected to work independently.
If you like being outside, biking and solving problems, Trail Marshals work throughout the trail helping guests with questions, bike problems and shuttles back to Roland. Trail Marshalls will be expected to give orientations to guests as they arrive at the East Portal Trail Head, help load and unload bikes, help size and set up delivered rental bikes to guest, check and sell trail tickets, fix minor bike problems and assist Bike Patrol in first aid. Tools for repairs, training and bikes will be provided. Trail Marshals work as a team and independently to keep the guests moving along the trail. Good commutation skills, and independent work ethic. the ability to do physical tasks like lifting 50 lbs and biking 16 miles or more a day are must for member of the Trail Marshal Staff.
The vehicle maintenance mechanic is responsible for the maintenance, troubleshooting and repair of the rolling stock used in daily operations at lookout pass/route of the Hiawatha, this includes: light trucks, loaders, busses and ATV’s. Fabrication skills and tire repair experience necessary, responsible for cleanliness of shop area and of equipment. Work is performed at lookout pass base area as well as breakdown repairs on the mountain and route of the Hiawatha bike trail. Applicants need to be a reliable, responsible, self-starter who can be a leader to the other shop workers. Must be drug free. Full time, flexible schedule.
Rental Shop Supervisor oversees a large rental operation, maintenance of equipment and testing, supervising staff, maintaining equipment safety standards and protocols. Provides guest services related to the proper selection, fitting, renting and selling of a variety of winter sports equipment, bikes and accessories. Manages functions related to maintaining efficient and high-quality shop operations, ordering and training and scheduling staff and overseeing rental equipment fleet. Must work well with reservations and have strong communications. Our Summer Operation is the Route of the Hiawatha Bike Trail.
